Summary of Position

The Systems Engineer II shares responsibility for the day-to-day support and development of the Teladoc Global Infrastructure environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Resolves and assesses a wide range of issues in creative ways and suggests variations in approach.
  • Devises solutions based on limited information and precedent and adapts existing approaches to resolve issues.
  • Work is done independently and is reviewed at critical points.
  • Perform daily systems administration tasks supporting multi-site-forest Active Directory, DNS, Windows based servers, Windows file/print and DFS services, Office365, IIS, VMware ESXi-6.x – 7.x, vCenter.
  • Creates and maintains thorough project plans and oversees infrastructure related projects.
  • Serves as final point of escalation for infrastructure issues.
  • Mentors and trains team members on various products and services.
  • Design and implementation of global hypervisor architecture.
  • Delegates tasks and assignments to appropriate level of infrastructure personnel.
  • Determine, report, and alleviate future potential infrastructure issues.
  • Maintain presence of monitoring systems and respond to alerts accordingly.
  • Provide off-hours support when necessary.
  • Administration of multi-environment AWS infrastructure.
  • Maintain HP, Lenovo, Dell, and Cisco server hardware in general.
  • Administration of KACE Systems Management Appliance.
  • Create and maintain software distribution packages via KACE.
  • Create automated processes for repeatable tasks.
  • Maintain multi-site systems backup platforms.
  • Assist with patch management and security vulnerability remediation tasks.
  • Install software releases, operating system upgrades and troubleshoot software related issues.
  • Engage vendor tech support when required.
  • Experience working in a Data Center environment and local IDF closets.
  • Participate in application development release management cycles when needed.
  • Maintain critical systems monitoring alerts. Experience with PRTG or LogicMonitor preferred but not required.
  • Perform periodic health checks of premise equipment and environment.
  • Contributes to, maintains, and adheres to system standards and industry best practices.
  • Perform IT procedures and maintain documentation that covers functional areas including production control, job scheduling, and security administration.
  • Handles and maintain the confidentiality, integrity and accessibility of sensitive information.
  • Serve as point of escalation for Global Service Desk team members for application support and troubleshooting.
  • Provide support to global remote offices and involvement in projects as needed.
  • Assist in the implementation of technical initiatives in a team environment.
  • Experience working in a 24X7 global environment. This position requires someone who can put the required time in including after-hours and or weekends when necessary.
  • Must be self-starter, team oriented, and be able to handle critical production situations.
  • Applicable technology-based certifications are preferred.
  • Supports ongoing evolution and refinement of primary care pricing models in collaboration with Product Marketing and Commercial Finance, with a focus on guiding the direction towards value-based care.
  • Ability to “speak” value-based care, evolution of primary care models and able to engage directly with clients on these complex topics.

Qualifications Expected for Position

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted.
  • Some experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2012-2019.
  • Experience with AWS.
  • Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy Management.
  • Experience with DNS, DFS, Active Directory and other common domain services.
  • Experience with VMware 6.x -7.x Infrastructure administration and operation
  • Experience with creating and maintaining current documentation.
  • General knowledge and familiarity with computer hardware including PCs, servers and printers.
  • Knowledge and experience maintaining a Data Center environment.
  • PowerShell scripting experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills and must be a team player.
  • Candidate must speak English in addition to any other languages.
  • Ability to multitask, be self-sufficient, and handle production situations.
  • Possesses many areas of expertise and is willing to learn new technologies.
  • Commitment to deadlines, criticality, and willingness to meet the needs of 24x7 environment.
  • Experience in environments containing sensitive data PHI (Personal Health Information).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Creative, and can think outside of the box, and ask for help when required.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and a self-starter.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Demonstrated a willingness to learn and develop career initiatives.
  • Experience working with Agile software development teams and Agile development tools such as JIRA, Confluence.
  • Working knowledge of with healthcare industry standards including EDI standards for eligibility and data exchange.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed and remote teams.
  • Experience in relevant business software (Teams, Excel, PPT, etc).
  • Exceptional written and oral interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skill; Project Management experience preferred.
  • Direct hands-on experience with writing user stories, grooming backlogs, and coordinating/prioritizing conflicting requirements.
  • Strong customer orientation, with a data driven decision making approach.
  • Ability to translate metrics into business decisions of importance and priorities
  • Comfortable with change and uncertainty.
  • Comfortable working independently and communicating through multiple levels in the organization.
