About the Job

Lean Technologies is a fast-growing fintech company building the financial data infrastructure for the MENA region. Operating in a highly regulated, security-sensitive environment, we serve mission-critical financial services that demand robust SLAs, tight security controls, and scalable, high-performance systems.

As a Senior DevOps & Site Reliability Engineer, you will work at the intersection of DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and SRE. You’ll own the architecture, automation, reliability, and observability of our hybrid cloud infrastructure across multiple regions and environments. You’ll troubleshoot complex problems across the stack—from networking and Linux internals to Kubernetes and cloud-native applications, ensuring the platform remains secure, fast, and reliable.

The Moment

Lean has tripled in size over the past twelve months. We’re on track to triple again next year. What started as the region’s pioneering Open Finance platform is now becoming something bigger: a multi-product infrastructure company powering payments, data, and lending across MENA. We’re expanding into new markets, opening offices, acquiring businesses, and building capabilities that didn’t exist here before.

We’ve processed billions of dollars in transactions. We’re trusted by 350+ clients - from Tabby and Tas’heel to Hungerstation - and backed by General Catalyst, Sequoia, and Shorooq. Our $67.5M Series B was just the beginning.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters across hybrid cloud environments (GCP, OCI, and on-prem).

  • Design and automate secure, scalable CI/CD pipelines for microservices and backend systems using GitHub Actions/Jenkins.

  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) across multi-region, multi-environment setups using Terraform/Ansible and GitOps practices.

  • Build and operate monitoring, observability, and alerting stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry , ELK . )

  • Proactively identify and address reliability, latency, and availability issues to meet strict SLA objectives.

  • Participate in and lead on-call rotations and incident response, conducting detailed postmortems and RCA reports.

  • Automate infrastructure lifecycle tasks: provisioning, scaling, configuration management, and patching.

  • Champion security, compliance (SOC 2, ISO 27001), and infrastructure reliability best practices.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve internal platforms, tooling, and developer productivity.

    Must-Have Technical Skills

    • 6+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps and/or Site Reliability Engineering roles.

    • Deep understanding of:

      • Linux systems administration and internals

      • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, routing, firewall policies)

      • Kubernetes/Helm/Containers (Setup and day 2 operations/troubleshotting)

      • Terraform for infrastructure automation

    • Strong scripting and automation with bash/shell and at preferably at least one language: Python or Go

    • Cloud expertise with OCI or GCP, ideally both.

    Additional Technical Experience

    • CI/CD tools: GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins

    • Docker and container lifecycle management

    • Logging and tracing (e.g., ELK stack, OpenTelemetry)

    • Operational experience with PostgreSQL , MongoDB, Redis

    • Security hardening and cloud compliance frameworks ( CIS level 1 , etc )

    • Performance tuning and troubleshooting in distributed environments

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in fintech or high-compliance regulated industries

  • Familiarity with multi-cloud and hybrid architectures

  • Exposure to Cloudflare or other edge/network security platforms

  • Strong documentation habits and experience contributing to runbooks

  • Passion for resilient system design and cross-functional infrastructure challenges

  • Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd)

NB. While we think the above experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply!!

Why Join us?

We’re building the financial infrastructure for MENA. Not as a slogan, as a fact.

Since 2019, we’ve become the first regulated Open Banking and Open Finance company operating across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. We’ve processed billions of dollars. We connect millions of accounts. We enable companies like Binance, Careem, and Etisalat to build products that were previously impossible in this region.

Our recent $67.5M Series B from General Catalyst and Sequoia isn’t just validation: it’s fuel. We’re expanding into new markets, launching new products, and setting the pace for what financial innovation looks like in MENA.

We solve hard problems. We move fast. We hold ourselves to a high standard. And we’re looking for people who’ve done this before to help us do it right.

If you’re motivated by building something that lasts, not just something that scales, Lean is where you need to be.

Not only do we offer competitive salaries, private healthcare, and flexible office hours, but we also insist that every member of the team hold a meaningful equity stake in the business to ensure long-term alignment. We'd love you to join us for this journey!

Lean is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.
