Layer Health was founded in 2023 by leading machine learning researchers from MIT and Harvard Medical School. We are building an AI layer that can accurately and scalably synthesize information from medical records, with the mission to reduce friction everywhere in healthcare. Our LLM-powered platform is solving chart review once and for all, across use cases. For health systems, our first product dramatically accelerates clinical registry abstraction in areas ranging from surgery and cardiology, to oncology. Our long term vision is for our AI layer to safely transform patient care and minimize unnecessary heartbreak. Layer Health’s diverse founding team brings expertise across machine learning, UI/UX, large language models, and medicine.

Here’s a collection of articles about our product, mission, recent funding round, etc.

We’re seeking an experienced Implementation & Integration Team Lead to help us build and oversee our end-to-end data & implementation strategy for our health systems customers.

What you’ll do

  • Lead health-system implementations — own the full onboarding process for new customers, from kickoff and discovery to implementation.
  • Manage and grow a team of EHR Integration Specialists, guiding them through complex data integrations and helping health systems successfully connect to Layer Health.
  • Partner with hospital IT teams on governance, security reviews, access, and infrastructure planning.
  • Develop and own our health-data strategy, including how EHR data is ingested, normalized, transformed, curated and cataloged.
  • Define the end-to-end data validation framework, including raw EHR data validation, integration and transformation tests, data drift and schema monitoring, etc.
  • Design the self-service onboarding experience for health-system customers — building scalable tools and playbooks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Success, Engineering / ML, Clinical, and Sales to ensure successful, seamless customer launches.

What we look for

  • 7+ years of experience in health-data integration, implementation, or interoperability, ideally in a startup or high-growth setting.
  • 3+ years leading teams (integration, implementation, or data engineering).
  • Deep understanding of EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.) and healthcare data standards like FHIR, HL7, CCD, and C-CDA.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance in healthcare (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
  • Exceptional cross-functional communicator who can bridge technical, clinical, and operational audiences.
  • Comfortable operating in an early-stage startup (and excited by it) - must be a strategic thinker who can also be hands on when needed to help execute
  • Familiarity with diverse technical integrations, technologies, and processing environments, including cloud and SaaS technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate challenges and issues directly with customers.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on familiarity with data pipelines, validation frameworks, and transformation tools (e.g., Python, dbt, SQL, Airflow).
