As a Software Development Engineer, you will:

  • Act as a member of the Software Development Department, be responsible for software development of LAN switch products.
  • Work with internal teams to investigate current and future architectures, requirements, and technology needs.
  • Be responsible for one or more security and related software functions/modules embedded in the product, and develop them through basic design, detailed design, coding, testing, and bug fixing.
  • Work cross-functionally with software development, hardware development, and quality assurance to deliver high-quality products.
  • Proactively participate in solving technical and complex issues.
  • Research and apply new technologies and tools relevant to product development.

We Are Looking For:
An insightful and influential collaborator to join our team. We encourage you to apply for this position if you have the following qualities:

  • 3+ years of software development experience in the IT/software industry.
  • Experience in UNIX software development using the C programming language.
    ‒ Experience with Python or other programming languages is a plus.
  • Knowledge and development experience in security-related technologies, including:
    ‒ User communication encryption and key exchange technologies such as MACsec
    ‒ User authentication technologies such as Captive Portal, IEEE 802.1X authentication, and MAC authentication.
    ‒ Device attack detection technologies such as tamper detection.
    ‒ Knowledge of encryption technologies.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze Linux kernel and modify source code when defects are identified.
  • Basic knowledge of networking, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies, and basic operation and configuration of network switches.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas (experience in all areas is not required):
    ‒ Experience in building development environments
    ‒ Experience in implementing vulnerability countermeasures based on information from CERT and other sources.
    ‒ Experience developing with chip vendor SDKs
    ‒ Experience developing hardware control for embedded devices
    ‒ Experience developing system management for embedded devices
    ‒ Experience developing user interface and business logic applications for embedded devices
    ‒ Knowledge and experience with switch chips in network equipment
    ‒ Knowledge and experience with BIOS and Bootloader technologies
    ‒ Knowledge and experience with Layer 2 network protocols
    ‒ Knowledge and experience with Layer 3 network protocols
    ‒ Knowledge and experience with network switch security features
    ‒ Knowledge and experience with technologies such as REST API, NETCONF, SNMP, Telemetry, ansible, etc.
  • Smooth communication and negotiation with stakeholders.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Strong curiosity about new technologies.
  • A passion for developing high-quality products.
  • Native-level Japanese proficiency.
  • Ability to read and understand English technical documents, and communicate in English via email
    ‒ Spoken English communication skills are a plus.
