We are looking for a Systems Engineer working in a dedicated German OT overlay team, mainly with our sales representatives on OT accounts and as well with the channel representatives to grow the Fortinet OT partner landscape across Germany. The OT Systems Engineer's main mission will be to support the sales, presales and channel organization in all OT technical matters regarding PoC’s, pre-sales, sales calls and post-sales. The Systems Engineer's mission will be to enable industrial organizations to validate cyber security design solutions presented to the Sales and Systems Engineering Organization as a Reference Architecture (RA) to build their business from within these target clients. The Systems Engineer will also support the Global compliance, laws, regulations, etc. of these Operational Technology & Critical Infrastructure systems by mapping these criteria’s back to our Fortinet products.
Your Role
This position is part of the German Sales Organization at Fortinet. As a trusted technical advisor, you will work closely with prospective and existing customers to understand their business and technical requirements and demonstrate how Fortinet’s Security Fabric addresses their security challenges. You will design and deliver persuasive technical presentations, product demonstrations, and Proof of Concepts (PoCs) that clearly articulate Fortinet’s value and differentiation.
You will collaborate closely with sales teams, partners, and fellow systems engineers, as well as with solution architects, consulting systems engineers, and other internal stakeholders, building long-term relationships based on trust, expertise, and shared success.
You will play a key role in winning strategic customers, accelerating deal cycles through technical leadership, and helping organizations build secure, scalable architectures with Fortinet solutions.
What You Will Do
Product Demonstrations: Deliver engaging, informative, and customer-focused demonstrations that showcase Fortinet’s market-leading technology and innovation.
Training & Workshops: Conduct technical enablement sessions—online and on-site—for Fortinet partners, helping them deepen their technical expertise and successfully position Fortinet solutions.
Proof of Concepts (PoCs): Support the planning, setup, and execution of PoCs using Fortinet solutions, ensuring technical success, and strengthening customer confidence in Fortinet as the best security platform on the market.
Technical Sales Enablement: Ensure that sales teams are equipped with the latest technical knowledge, best practices, and competitive insights to succeed in customer engagements.

Relevant Experience: Hands-on experience in networking and/or IT security gained at a vendor, system integrator, service provider, consulting firm, or within an enterprise IT environment. Experience in pre-sales is valuable, but technically strong engineers with customer-facing ambition are also encouraged to apply.
Strong Communication Skills: Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and convincingly. Approximately 80% of customer interactions will be conducted in German and 20% in English; fluency in both languages is required.
Consultative Approach: You act as a trusted advisor, combining deep technical expertise with a strong customer focus and the ability to position Fortinet’s differentiation against competing solutions.

Key Skills
- 3-5 years’ hands-on experience, as well as technical operations, of the Operational Technology/Industrial Control Systems/Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition environments (ICS & SCADA systems, PLCs & RTUs, HMI & Historian, Smart sensors & actuators)
- 3-5 years’ experience dealing with industrial clients within one or more of the following sub-industries (Power, O&G, Manufacturing, transportation & logistics, or Smart Buildings)
- 4 - 6 years’ experience in technical/pre-sales support as a sales and/or systems engineer
- 4 - 6 years’ experience in LAN/WAN/Internet services administration
- Knowledge of the key Industrial Security Policies, Standards, and Guidelines (IEC 62443, NIST CSF, CIS Top 20, ISO 27XXX, NERC-CIP)
- Familiarity with the common industrial protocols (EthernetIP, Modbus, DNP3 & IEC 104, OPC, …)Strong understanding of DNS and NFS, SMTP, HTTP, TCP/IP
- Knowledge of the following technologies: Routing, Switching, VPN, LAN, WAN, Network Security, Intrusion Detection, and Anti Virus.
- Strong understanding in the following technologies and protocols: RADIUS, PKI, IKE, Certificates, L2TP, IPSEC, FIREWALL, 802.1Q, MD5, SSH, SSL, SHA1, DES, 3DES
- Experience with encryption and authentication technologies required
