Network Performance Security and Preproduction Tester -6 month Internship
Lacework
Project 2. 6 Month internship (office based in our Sophia Antipolis office, Valbonne)
Role Overview:
We conduct rigorous performance testing of our hardware and software using industry-leading traffic generators, including Keysight BreakingPoint, VIAVI Avalanche, and CyberFlood. We utilize a custom automation framework to execute these tests and publish results for our Systems Engineering (SE) community.
We are looking to expand our testing coverage by implementing new standardized benchmarks across our entire product line. This role focuses on developing, testing, documenting, and potentially automating new test suites for both virtualized and physical environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- RFC 2544 Benchmarking: Implement RFC 2544 tests across virtual platforms (KVM, ESXi) with scaling CPU configurations (2, 4, 8 cores, etc.).
- Hardware & VPN Testing: Execute identical RFC 2544 tests on physical hardware (DUT) specifically utilizing VPN IPsec tunnels.
- Security Testing: Integrate the NetSecOpen security test suite across all virtual and physical platforms.
- Documentation & Integration: Create comprehensive documentation for the new test suites. Collaborate with the automation and web teams to define requirements for automated execution and data visualization (graphs, peak values, etc.).
Technical Requirements:
- Virtualization & Scripting: Proficiency in KVM and ESXi environments, including scripting for test deployment.
- Networking & Systems: Deep understanding of IPv4/IPv6, TCP/UDP, L2 switching, and routing protocols. Experience with Fortigate or similar NGFWs is highly preferred.
- Performance Analysis: Ability to analyze system behavior under load using diagnostic tools like mpstat, top, or htop.
- Industry Standards: Knowledge of RFC 2544 and RFC 9411. Experience with Spirent, Keysight, or VIAVI tools is a significant plus.
Education:
- Student in Computer Science or a similar field.
- Advanced fluency / proficiency in English

We conduct rigorous performance testing of our hardware and software using industry-leading traffic generators, including Keysight BreakingPoint, VIAVI Avalanche, and CyberFlood. We utilize a custom automation framework to execute these tests and publish results for our Systems Engineering (SE) community. Our standard methodology begins with a goal-seeking phase to identify the peak performance threshold (the "best value"). Once established, we validate this result by running additional tests at -10% and +10% load increments to ensure stability and accuracy.
