We are currently looking for an Embedded Software developer. This position offers variety and direct involvement with complex, innovative technology; as well as the opportunity to work with a close-knit team of experienced and talented developers and engineers. As an Embedded Software Engineer at Fortinet, you will be responsible for the full development cycle of newer and award-winning flagship Fortinet products. Focus on NPI (New Product Introduction), you will be given the opportunity to participate in the development, as well as troubleshooting and testing of software or hardware related issues. You will work with the latest technologies for our next generation high performance distributed security systems. Join our team of enthusiastic engineers and become a leader in network security.

As an Embedded Software Developer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, implement and test software/firmware according to specifications.
  • Maintenance, performance tuning, software bug fixing of Fortinet products.
  • Document work and code using source control system.

Job Skills Required:

  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Capable of switching focus in various situations and apply themselves to quickly learning new technologies and adopting new methodologies.
  • Linux user mode and kernel driver/module programming.
  • Linux kernel network layer architecture, packet routing and layer two packet switching.
  • Linux user/kernel mode packet filter/rules management.
  • CPU peripheral bus/interfaces. Such as PCI/PCIE, SATA, UART, SPI, I2C, USB, GPIO, etc.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience with C/C++ programming.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience with linux kernel programming.
  • Experience with embedded system bootup procedure.
  • Experience with network switch/phy chip configuration by datasheet.
  • Experience with X86 CPU chipset architecture.
  • Knowledge about BIOS, SMC, CPLD.

Educational Requirements:

  • Masters in Computer Science or similar degree.

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $115,000 - $135,000 annually. Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
