KAYAK is looking for a Staff Accountant to support our North America (NORAM) Regional General Ledger (GL) Accounting team! You will be responsible for many aspects of general ledger activities, such as:

  • Recording accurate and timely accounting transactions and accruals on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

  • Performing detailed profit and loss (P&L) account analysis and balance sheet account reconciliations.

  • Applying critical thinking and your knowledge of US GAAP to ensure proper accounting treatment for all processes and transactions.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position is expected to work closely with the Technical Accounting and Consolidation/Reporting teams, FinOps, FP&A, Information Technology, Legal, and other teams globally.

This role is required to commute to our Norwalk, CT office at least 3 times per week.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare accounting entries and account reconciliations in accordance with the financial close process including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end.

  • Apply GAAP principles to assigned accounting areas and identify when further research is required (e.g., new agreements, changing factors).

  • Assist in the following:

    • Research and propose resolutions for discrepancies or identified issues, questions or new situations.

    • Develop, maintain and document all policies and procedures related to assigned areas of responsibility.

    • Prepare summaries and commentary on changes and fluctuations for senior management reviews.

  • Collaboratively support the Team and Management in various accounting projects, global process alignment and improvement initiatives.

  • Work cross-functionally with and support our business partners by providing financial insights and relevant reporting.

  • Identify areas for operational improvement, provide recommendations and implement the changes.

Please apply if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred).

  • 2-3 years of applicable professional experience in industry and/or public accounting.

  • Experience with preparing accounting reconciliations and journal entries.

  • Ability to analyze and effectively comment on accounting flux (variance) analysis, demonstrating strong written communication skills.

  • Prioritization skills and are interested in projects to standardize and optimize workflow.

  • Refined Microsoft Excel skills (xlookup, pivot tables, etc.).

  • You are curious to learn more about and assist in technical accounting research.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Successfully partner with cross-functional teams, utilizing strong verbal communication to achieve shared goals.

  • High work standards and strong work ethics.

  • Process-oriented with high attention to detail, accuracy and follow-through.

  • Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite and FloQast is a plus.

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. The range for this United States-based role is $80,000 - $85,000.00.

This role is eligible for an annual bonus.
