About the Role

Instacart’s Strategic Finance team partners across the company to drive clarity, allocate resources, and accelerate growth. We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join our Strategic Finance org supporting Instacart Business & Health – Instacart’s longer-term investment areas focused on empowering businesses and improving health outcomes through food access.

In this role, you will leverage data-driven insights to provide strategic guidance, identify new opportunities, and enhance decision-making within the Instacart Business team. Your work will directly impact our growth strategy and contribute to Instacart Business’s long-term vision of accelerating technology adoption across the entire food and beverage supply chain.

About The Team

The Strategic Finance team is an integral thought partner to Instacart's core functional leaders, providing essential support for strategic, financial/investment, and product decision-making. We serve as a point of connection between teams, facilitating collaboration, idea sharing, and alignment to achieve our desired business outcomes.

About The Job

  • Serve as the primary strategic finance business partner for Instacart Business and Instacart Health, becoming an expert by gaining a deep understanding of how we drive growth and solve user problems.
  • Partner with and influence Instacart leadership (Product/Eng, Data Science, Sales/Commercial teams and C-suite) to develop high-level strategy, formulate business plans, pricing, and evaluate resourcing and profitability trade-offs.
  • Work on business problems that involve uncertainty, bringing structure, data, and sound judgment to propose a clear and executable plan.
  • Produce executive-ready narratives and materials for business reviews, planning cycles, and leadership updates; communicate complex analyses with clarity and conviction.
  • Facilitate strategic planning in collaboration with cross-functional partners, sizing new opportunities, prioritizing initiatives, and implementing performance measurement processes.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to automate and improve reporting and planning processes, including exploring AI-enabled workflows to increase speed and accuracy.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in strategic finance, corporate finance, business operations, investment banking, management consulting, or private equity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Advanced financial modeling in Excel or Google Sheets; demonstrated ability to build models and reporting from scratch.
  • Proficiency with SQL and BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau) to self-serve analysis and automate reporting; experience leveraging AI or scripting to streamline workflows.
  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly respond to problems independently and proactively address conflicting stakeholder requirements to achieve creative compromise.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a track record of producing executive-ready materials.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment while managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degrees in business and/or a quantitative discipline (e.g. economics, statistics) and background in marketplace or early stage companies are a plus.
  • Preferred location is San Francisco Bay Area or New York City; remote candidates within the United States and Canada are welcome to apply.
