Overview
Instacart is hiring a Data Analyst to support the Legal Risk & Compliance function through high‑quality data analysis, dashboard development, reporting, and workflow tooling support. You will work across compliance-related datasets and systems to improve visibility, efficiency, and accuracy of Legal Compliance operations.
This role emphasizes data analysis, dashboarding, metrics development, and operational support rather than compliance program ownership or strategy.
This role sits within the Risk & Compliance team and acts as a data and tooling enabler for Legal. You’ll transform operational and compliance data into insights, dashboards, and workflows that increase visibility and support informed decision‑making. Although you won’t have direct reports, you will support complex programs and partner with senior stakeholders across the organization.

About The Job
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect, clean, analyze, and interpret compliance-related datasets to identify trends and performance indicators
- Build dashboards and recurring reports that quantify program activity, track KPIs, and support operational decision‑making
- Create metrics definitions, data dictionaries, and reporting standards to ensure clarity and consistency
- Ensure data quality and completeness across all dashboards, trackers, and reporting pipelines
- Develop, maintain, and optimize dashboards (Mode, Tableau, Smartsheet, internal tools)
- Write and maintain data queries that feed dashboards and reporting tables
- Conduct recurring data audits to detect inconsistencies, missing fields, or outdated data
- Support tooling upkeep for Jira, Asana, Smartsheet, and internal databases related to Legal workflows
- Troubleshoot intake and workflow issues and resolve data or tool-related questions from stakeholders
- Support Legal Risk & Compliance workflows by tracking tasks, timelines, and updates tied to data-driven processes
- Assist with rollouts and change communications for new dashboards, reports, or workflow updates
- Use AI-enabled tools to support data summarization, report drafting, and documentation work
- Maintain clear, organized repositories of reports, queries, data sources, and process documentation
- Create internal guides, FAQs, and how-to materials for dashboards, workflows, and data tools
- Ensure documentation stays current with evolving systems and metrics
Minimum Qualifications
- 3–5 years experience in data analysis, reporting, or operational analytics (Legal/Compliance experience a plus)
- Experience building dashboards, writing queries, and working with operational datasets
- Proficiency with data querying (SQL, etc) and visualization tools (Mode, Tableau, etc.)
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and data quality mindset
- Comfort in fast-paced, tech-driven environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience supporting tools and troubleshooting data/workflow issues
- Bachelor’s degree in analytics, business, operations, or similar; or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with compliance or regulatory data environments (product, hardware, regulatory affairs is a plus but not required)
- Experience documenting data processes, metrics definitions, or SOPs
- Familiarity with workflow tools such as Jira, Asana, or Smartsheet
