We are looking for a Finance Business Partner - Lending to own commercial finance for inDrive's lending business across partner-funded and own-funded products. You will work alongside the Senior Head of Lending to own budgeting, forecasting, performance tracking, and strategic finance partnership. This role requires translating loan performance data into commercial insights, building driver-based forecasting models, and challenging business assumptions on origination targets and portfolio quality. You will be the commercial finance voice for Lending - ensuring the P&L accurately reflects business economics, understanding lending strategy deeply enough to identify performance drivers, and partnering with financial controllers to validate that major expense lines like ECL provisions are commercially sound.

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Own the annual Lending budget process: origination volumes by market and partner, revenue by product (partner-funded vs own-funded), ECL provision expense, operating costs
  • Build 5-year Lending forecast: origination growth trajectories, partner mix evolution, own-funded portfolio build-up, margin improvement path, path-to-profitability
  • Own monthly rolling forecasts: update origination volume assumptions, default rate projections, and revenue forecasts based on latest performance data
  • Growth stress testing: model impact of aggressive vs conservative origination scenarios on working capital requirements, P&L, and cash flow
  • Scenario modeling: quantify impact of pricing changes (interest rates, tenor), approval rate adjustments, marketing spend allocation, and partner mix shifts on portfolio profitability
Performance Tracking & Variance Analysis
  • Own weekly and monthly lending performance dashboards: origination volumes, loan sizes, approval rates, disbursement rates, default rates, net interest margin by partner and market
  • Monthly plan-fact variance analysis: explain every material variance in origination volume, portfolio quality, and revenue performance with root cause analysis and commercial recommendations
  • Deep-dive variance analysis when origination is significantly over or underperforming vs budget
  • Track partner-funded vs own-funded lending performance separately with clear unit economics comparison - which model is more profitable at what scale?
  • Build and maintain loan portfolio analytics: cohort behavior, delinquency trends, roll rates - translate these into early warning flags for business leadership
P&L Ownership & Financial Governance
  • Own the Lending P&L narrative: prepare monthly and quarterly performance summaries for the Commercial Lending Lead and senior leadership - what's working, what's not, why, and what to do about it
  • Work closely with financial reporting and financial controllers to ensure the Money P&L is accurate and reflects true business economics
  • ECL provision oversight: partner with risk team and controllers to validate that ECL provision posted to the P&L makes commercial sense - review default rate assumptions, recovery rate assumptions, and macroeconomic overlays against observed portfolio performance. ECL is one of Money's biggest expenses - you need to understand it deeply and flag when it's over/under-stated
  • Challenge and validate reported actuals: revenue figures, admin fees, partner revenue share payments, collections costs, payroll, and marketing spend from accounting systems match business reality before using them in forecasts and analysis - flag anomalies and resolve unexplained variances with central finance
Strategic Finance Partnership
  • Understand the Lending strategy deeply: partner priorities, market expansion roadmap, product priorities
  • Translate strategy into financial implications: if the strategy is to shift from partner-funded to own-funded over 24 months, model the working capital requirement, margin impact, and risk profile change working with relevant stakeholders
  • Challenge Lending Commercial Lead on growth targets
  • Business case modeling for strategic initiatives: new market entries, new product launches, new partnership agreements - provide financial perspective on which bets to make
Unit Economics & Partnership Modeling
  • Build partner economics model: revenue per loan, partner take rates, inDrive net revenue by partnership - identify which partnerships are most profitable and why
  • New partnership due diligence: build unit economics models for prospective lending partners, revenue share sensitivity analysis, path-to-break-even projections
  • Own-funded vs partner-funded transition modeling: at what origination volume does own-funding become more profitable? What are the working capital implications
Data Infrastructure & Reporting Automation
  • Migrate lending reporting from manual spreadsheets to Workday and Tableau
  • Standardize KPI definitions across markets and partners to enable clean consolidated reporting
  • Work with financial controllers to ensure you're consuming clean, reconciled data - you validate commercial logic and business performance, they validate accounting accuracy and technical compliance

Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience in FP&A, commercial finance, or finance business partnering, in financial services, fintech, or lending businesses
  • Strong business partnering capability: proven ability to build trusted relationships with cross-functional business teams (product, operations, risk, marketing). You will be embedded with the core Lending team and need to operate as their finance partner, not a distant reporter - this requires curiosity about the business, proactive engagement, and the credibility to be consulted on strategic decisions
  • Strong Excel skills: able to work with large loan-level datasets, build pivot tables, cohort analysis, and create dynamic dashboards
  • Experience with lending economics (origination volume, loan size, interest rates, default rates, net interest margin, vintage analysis, ECL provisions) is a strong advantage
  • Proven experience owning annual budgets and multi-year forecasts - you should be comfortable building 5-year models from first principles
  • Deep variance analysis capability: able to explain performance gaps with root cause analysis and actionable recommendations
  • Understanding of credit risk concepts (ECL provisions, default rates, roll rates, recovery rates) - you need to validate that provisions make commercial sense and aren't distorting P&L
  • Familiarity with partnership revenue share models and unit economics preferred
  • Strategic finance mindset: you understand the business strategy deeply enough to translate it into financial implications and challenge unrealistic assumptions
  • Commercial partnership capability: comfortable working with financial controllers and risk teams to ensure P&L accuracy without doing their technical work
  • Strong communication skills: ability to translate loan portfolio performance into business insights for non-finance audiences and present to senior leadership
  • Self-starter who can work independently in a fast-paced environment with evolving processes
  • Fluent English is required; Portuguese or Spanish is a strong plus.
