Alternativa is an international non-profit initiative supporting and promoting filmmakers from the upcoming industries of the Global South. Our focus is on films and authors that strive to improve the world. One of our goals is to bring films with the potential for such social impact to wide audiences across the globe. We are building a sustainable distribution model of films through partnerships (streaming platforms, TV channels, media platforms, etc.) and collaboration with multiple stakeholders.

We are looking for an experienced and independent project manager to set up and lead this project in coordination with Alternativa's head, Liza Surganova. Experience in the distribution or film industry is not obligatory, though certainly would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Project planning and execution: Lead the planning and implementation of distribution initiatives, develop a detailed project plan, and maintain timelines. Ensure all initiatives are delivered on time, within scope and budget.
  • Stakeholder Management: Set up the project canvas, assign tasks, and oversee their execution. Coordinate internal resources and third parties to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Partner Management: Communicate with partners in the film and media industry including streaming platforms, TV channels, distribution companies, and sales agents. Collect feedback and necessary data from partners.
  • Budget and Documentation: Manage the budget of the distribution initiatives, oversee financial reporting and track expenses. Handle all necessary documentation.
  • Legal compliance: Coordinating with the legal team regarding rights and distribution contracts, making sure the agreements are followed

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a project manager or producer, preferably in the field of film or culture
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Efficient management of timelines and budgets
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to negotiate with contractors and partners
  • Experience working with various project management tools
  • Fluent English (Upper Intermediate level or higher)
