Government Relations Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Government Relations Specialist to join our team in Thailand, focusing on building and maintaining strong relationships with government agencies and officials. As a key member of our Government Affairs department, you will play a crucial role in representing our organization's interests, advocating for policies that align with our objectives, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with key government officials, policymakers, regulatory bodies and key opinion leaders.
  • Develop and implement national GR strategy, OKRs, road maps and action plans.
    Identify, map and address regulatory risks and opportunities.
  • Manage platform licensing at the state level. Identify regulatory requirements to platforms working in ride-hailing, courier, intercity, cargo and other business verticals operated by inDrive. Own, plan and manage the platform licensing process.
  • Build coalitions with key policy stakeholders including companies, trade associations, and civil society groups.
  • Manage inDrive’s participation in NGOs, industrial unions and associations.
    Establish inDrive's brand and profile with policy makers: including Governments, Third parties, Opinion makers and Academia
  • Manage regulatory and/or political crises that may arise, develop and implement action plans to address them effectively.
  • Form and manage the country level GR budget.
  • Serve as a thought leader providing counsel to internal stakeholders on policy, legislative or reputational initiatives that may impact business performance and/or company reputation through regular updates.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Growth, Legal, Communications, Finance and Product, to ensure compliance with existing regulations and anticipate potential regulatory challenges.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in government relations / public policy.
  • 2+ years of experience in tier-one multinationals (inhouse or consulting) would be an advantage.
  • Successful track record in participating as an active contributor and/or leading advocacy programs on national and/or regional levels.
  • Experience in building effective relationships, demonstrating leadership in management and public policy implementation.
  • A keen understanding of the legislative, regulatory, policymaking, and political processes.
  • Experience in the ride-hailing and tech area would be a plus.
  • Ability to research policy and political issues and summarize the information.
  • Ability to articulate complex regulatory and policy matters into easily understood language.
  • Strong analytical & presentation skills, able to align company strengths and goals with strategic government opportunities and challenges.
  • An ownership mindset of the relevant area(s) of subject matter expertise.
  • Capable of building strong relationships cross-functionally across inDrive.
  • Degree in law / economics / political science / international affairs.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Thai.
  • A self starter, someone who is highly adaptable as well as calm under pressure.
  • Bias for action in everything you do.
  • A great team-player who can deal with the ambiguity which is a well known by-product of working with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills.
