76 Avionics EWIS Engineer
Hypersonica
Munich, Germany
What you'll do
- Establish and own the Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) capability at Hypersonica, defining architectures, design rules, and integration practices from first principles.
- Design and route high reliability power and signal harnessing across flight and ground systems operating in extreme thermal, vibration, and EMI environments.
- Own harness architecture, connector strategy, shielding, grounding, and separation philosophy to ensure signal integrity and system robustness.
- Work hands-on with hardware, from early prototypes through flight articles, supporting build, integration, troubleshooting, and rework.
- Partner closely with avionics, propulsion, structures, and test teams to ensure electrical systems are flight-ready, manufacturable, and rapidly iterated.
- Define and evolve EWIS documentation, schematics, and configuration control in a fast moving development environment.
- Use test, integration, and flight feedback to continuously improve designs and eliminate single point failures.
Who you are
- An avionics or EWIS engineer with 3+ years’ experience designing cable harnesses in aerospace, space, or defence environments.
- Deeply experienced in high-power, low-power, and mixed-signal harness design, with an instinct for robustness and signal integrity.
- Comfortable owning detailed design decisions, from part selection and connector choice through to full BOM definition.
- Experienced producing manufacturing-ready documentation, not just concept designs.
- Someone who understands how electrical design choices show up in build, integration, and test, and designs accordingly.
- Able to balance engineering rigour with startup speed, making sound decisions with incomplete data.
- Motivated by building core capability from the ground up in a small team where your designs directly affect flight success.
- Energised by responsibility, ownership, and seeing your work fly, fail, and improve fast.
