HubSpot is looking for a Corporate Counsel to provide a key commercial leadership and support role on the HubSpot Legal Team. This role will be based in our India office, in Bengaluru and you will report into our Director, Associate General Counsel based in London, UK

In this role you will:

  • Serve as our first India-based Legal counsel focusing on global legal issues impacting our customers.
  • Provide first line legal support to our Global Customer Success teams handling customer disputes, privacy queries, local compliance questions and contract renewals, with a primary focus on supporting the JAPAC region, you will also share workload with the wider CS legal support team and support other regions globally where required.
  • Collaborate with another commercial legal team member based in JAPAC and when required provide deal negotiation support to our JAPAC Sales teams
  • Provide customer-focused solutions to complex legal questions.
  • Help develop robust enablement to scale legal problem solving for Customer Success.
  • Work cross functionally with other legal teams to highlight the most pressing concerns for customers in your region and develop scalable solutions.

What we are looking for:

  • You’ll have an LLB/LLM Degree and be enrolled as an advocate on the rolls of the Bar Council in at least one state or are qualified to practice law in Singapore, the U.K., US, Australia, or other common law jurisdiction.
  • Experience practicing law within a technology company with a global presence
  • At least 3-5 years of post-qualification experience (preferably with some in-house experience)
  • Someone who has a keen interest in emerging technology areas such as AI, and is familiar with Privacy and Security-related regulations especially in JAPAC (in particular India and Australia).
  • Significant experience in:
    • solving complex customer legal questions;
    • dispute resolution in JAPAC (with experience in Australia being a bonus);
    • contract review, drafting and negotiation.
  • Someone who is comfortable handling legal questions from customers globally.
  • Ability to handle a broad range of commercial contract matters and work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Someone who can develop strong relationships based on trust with team members and their stakeholders
  • You’ll be able to handle high-volume and prioritize tasks according to urgency and business need.
  • You will have strong communication and organizational skills.
  • You will have a can do, adaptable attitude with a willingness and ability to learn quickly.
  • Experience using Slack, Zoom and Service Now ticketing systems.
  • Have fluency in English (additional languages would be a plus)
  • Are passionate about the values in the HubSpot Culture Code.
