About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to join our AI Group at HubSpot. As the senior most engineering individual contributor (IC) within the team, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing our AI strategy. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced AI algorithms and models that drive innovation, and enhance various products and services at HubSpot. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in the field of artificial intelligence, a passion for technology, and the ability to provide technical leadership to a diverse team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of AI algorithms and models to improve customer experiences and drive business growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, and designers, to identify AI opportunities and determine technical feasibility and implementation plans.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis of emerging trends, best practices, and technologies in AI and machine learning.
- Build scalable and efficient AI solutions that can be deployed across different platforms and products.
- Develop and maintain high-quality code, documentation, and test suites to ensure the reliability and robustness of AI-powered systems.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, helping them grow and excel in their careers.
- Stay up to date with industry standards and advancements in AI, and actively share knowledge and best practices with the broader engineering community at HubSpot.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on AI and machine learning.
- Expert knowledge of AI and machine learning principles and algorithms, including deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in AI, such as Python or Java.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience working with large datasets and building scalable AI systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with AI frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and services, such as AWS or Google Cloud.
- Demonstrated track record of publications and contributions to the AI community.

Cash compensation range: 285000-427500 USD Annually

The cash compensation above includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, all HubSpotters are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are based on a few different factors unique to each candidate, including their skills, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
