Position Overview and Key Responsibilities:

In this Business Development and Market Strategy role at our early stage startup, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of our business and GTM efforts. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, engineers, data scientists, and also external partners at leading national health systems, payers, and life science companies. You will report to the CEO and work closely with the company’s leadership to align on strategic priorities and execution.

We expect you to contribute across three specific domains:

  1. Go-to-market strategy planning and execution: Leading the HealthEx team in evaluating opportunities to speed solution adoption and end-user feedback across varying health system types and sizes, and various market targets, such as payers.
  2. Business development: Leading efforts with new and existing HealthEx partners and customers
  3. Product strategy: Effectively seeking out and capturing relevant GTM and customer inputs and working with product counterparts to apply these into product action and outcomes

As an early-stage startup, we expect you to be flexible and to contribute across a mix of domains. We expect the role to evolve over time, as you and the company both mature.

You will work closely with the HealthtEx leadership to accomplish the following:

  • Developing a BD & GTM Strategy Vision & Roadmap: Support the founders in developing a clear and compelling GTM vision and strategy that aligns with the company's goals and market needs.
  • Sourcing, leading outreach and closing new health system & other data-originator customers: Developing materials, leading conversations, sharing insights and actionable items following meetings, and tracking towards these tasks.
  • Customer, vendor, and partner outreach to health systems, payers, EHR providers
  • Translating BD and GTM strategy vision and roadmap to Actionable Tasks: Articulate clear task requirements, goals, and priorities coming out of the strategy brainstorming sessions in written form that allow for Prioritization and Scoping discussions. Review prioritization and feedback from the team
  • Work collaboratively with Product counterparts to iterate industry strategy as it relates to product requirements
  • Market Analysis: Stay current with industry trends, competitors, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
  • User Testing and Feedback: Together with the HealthEx team, conduct user testing and gather feedback to validate hypotheses and refine GTM plans.
  • Occasional travel to meet with partners and customers.

Who we are looking for:

Long term, we are looking for a flexible ‘BD and GTM athlete’ who is motivated by the current challenges in our siloed and complex healthcare system, deeply believes in the value of the company’s mission and is excited by the patient-centric approach we are taking towards solving for the outcome. We expect that the areas of responsibilities for this role will evolve dynamically as our start-up grows, and there is an expectation that the candidate will be willing to take on new challenges and learn in unfamiliar product domains to help the overall productivity of the team and company. Equally, the candidate will be supported in their individual learning and career goals whenever possible to align with the company’s goals.

Lastly, given the sensitivity of health data HealthEx will work with and the ideals the company and Collective are founded on, we place an extremely high degree of importance on ethical, responsible and regulatory-compliant behavior on an individual and company basis.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; MBA or equivalent is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of business development and market strategy experience, with a track record of successfully bringing digital products to market in a consumer and/or healthcare setting.
  • Prior experience in early-stage startups or dynamic, fast-paced environments - speed of execution and decision making is a key component of performance evaluation
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare industry and familiarity with health data regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).
  • Proven ability to drive business development partnerships
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills - especially written - with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across geographies and time zones.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Scrum, JIRA) to manage work efforts
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in using data and metrics to inform decision-making.
  • Passion for innovation and a deep commitment to improving healthcare through technology.

  • Opportunity to shape the future of healthcare technology.
  • Collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Professional growth and development opportunities.
  • Flexible work arrangements
  • Great Medical, vision and dental insurance, 401K plan, and other health and wellness benefits.

Who we are:

Join us as we empower patients to do more with their health data at their place of care, and at any address.

HealthEx is building the first-of-its-kind patient and health data network, putting trust and transparency around data use for participating patients at its center. Core to its network is a new data collaboration infrastructure layer that HealthEx is building, that facilitates a participatory data economy based on enforceable digital rights, patient consent, and data use auditability and tracking. Its solution can be used to manage data access for research, operational uses, and more novel data use cases supporting gen AI model development. HealthEx’s intent is to enable an efficient R&D data ecosystem, facilitate novel data licensing models, and support deeper digital patient engagement, benefiting patients and health systems. We are a mission driven team, looking to expand and make an impact.

Priyanka is a physician with clinical, academic, and biotech/pharma leadership experience who most recently led Digital Health @ Myokardia, which was subsequently acquired by Bristol Myers Squibb, where she then led digital health for the Cardiovascular therapeutic area. Anand is a computer scientist and product engineer with a deep start-up pedigree, most recently as part of the founding team and VP of Engineering at BlueJeans by Verizon. HealthEx’s vision is to build the world’s largest research and data network of engaged and consented patients. We aim to get every person involved in opportunities around their health data, in a transparent, trusted, and fairly attributable manner.

We are delivering on this vision by building infrastructure at health systems that supports patient engagement and consent collection, health system governance and compliance, and an efficient front door for innovators to access patients/data of interest across health systems in our network. To do this, we are thinking deeply about problems across a range of domains: big data pipelines, healthcare ontologies, patient/provider/researcher experience as well as trustless and transparent systems powered by Blockchain. We believe that the combination of our delightful user experience for patients and innovators, quality of mission-aligned health system partners, and radically transparent consent and economics can unlock a new level of patient-centric research engagement and participation not seen before in the space.

We have the benefit of partnership from nationally renowned academic and community health systems and research groups who are serveing as founding design partners, as well as top-tier investors and their ecosystems in Healthcare (General Catalyst) and Web-3 and other leading-edge technologies (Electric Capital). We are looking to build a team that has the ambition, depth of knowledge and drive to learn to take on this unique, cutting-edge idea and leave a lasting impact on the global healthcare system. is an equal opportunity employer.
