Tldr: We are scaling up our dev team and looking for a junior developer who can join our product team & help code the Android version of the app (in Kotlin).
What You'll Do
- Build the Hallow App: Build a best-in-class native Kotlin mobile app to help our users pray and meditate around the world
- Craft the Product: Work closely within a product pod alongside other developers and designers in an agile environment to implement designs, interfaces, and animations into our app.
- Collaborate: Participate in design and code reviews, working closely with other devs.
- Optimize: Architect frameworks for allowing A/B testing of content, fine-tune media streaming to enable our content to be accessible worldwide
- Contribute to the Hallow App: Assist in developing our native Kotlin mobile app—writing code for feature development.
- Implement Designs: Work within an agile pod to translate UI mockups and animations into functioning screens; pair‑program with designers and senior developers.
- Collaborate & Learn: Participate in code reviews, take feedback, and help troubleshoot issues alongside other devs.
- Support Optimizations: Help set up A/B tests for product experiments and assist with basic media‑streaming improvements to ensure global accessibility.

We don’t care when or where you work, just that it gets done! That being said, our HQ is in Chicago and if in-person work is something you are interested in, we’d love to have you there

What We're Looking For
- Passion: First & foremost, we’re looking for someone excited about our mission. It makes it a lot more fun :)
- Experience: A foundational knowledge of Kotlin and Android development in general; experience working on other apps that use Media3 or media streaming is a plus; an attention to detail with regards to design and crafting user interfaces, especially utilizing Jetpack Compose; basic knowledge of application architecture and design.
- Grit & Detail-Oriented: We really care about what we’re doing & try to build as fast as we can. Since we’re guided meditation and competing with some large players in the market (Calm, Headspace), we have to stand out. Everything we do, say, send, or spend money on should be top-notch quality and set Hallow apart as the best.

Compensation Range
$90,000 to $130,000 USD per year
The above range only includes cash compensation. Each full-time employee in the US also receives equity compensation, alongside a top-tier benefits package (e.g., unlimited PTO, insurance, remote-flexible work, fully paid parental leave, 401(k) match, and stipends for spiritual development, health & wellness, home-office, and learning).
The above range for cash compensation refers to base salary. All full-time employees are also eligible to be considered for a discretionary bonus at the end of each fiscal year. These ranges are just initial estimates. They may vary depending on market or location and may be adjusted depending on the person we end up hiring for this role, their experience, and market dynamics.
