Grammarly is excited to offer a remote-first hybrid working model. Grammarly team members in this role must be based in the United States or Canada, and, depending on business needs, they must meet in person for collaboration weeks, traveling if necessary to the hub(s) where their team is based.

This flexible approach gives team members the best of both worlds: plenty of focus time along with in-person collaboration that fosters trust and unlocks creativity.

The Opportunity

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re seeking a Manager, Commissions, to join our Revenue Operations team. This role will manage the day-to-day operations of our sales commission process for our revenue organization as a core part of our Sales Operations team.

Grammarly’s go-to-market teams are shaping the future of workplace communication. As a member of our team, you will be crucial in expanding the use of our innovative, trustworthy AI writing tools. We strive to ensure that every organization can communicate effectively and efficiently. If you are passionate about transforming how professionals connect and collaborate, we would love to hear from you.

As Manager, Commissions, you will be an active contributor to administering commission plans and letters, calculating commissions, reporting, processing draws, and resolving inquiries. You will become the subject matter expert for all commission-related topics, questions, or initiatives. You will also take the lead on managing our commission tool software and define strategies to improve how we use it to administer commissions. You will build strategies and improve processes to help our sales team take full advantage of our commission tool software to be more productive with tracking and understanding their commission plan and progress.

Despite the sales team growing, Revenue Operations does not necessarily get additional time to handle our commission-related work monthly. We must regularly consider ways to become more productive while maintaining quality work, paying great attention to detail, and meeting crucial deadlines to ensure sales reps are paid correctly and on time. You will be given opportunities to manage the end-to-end commission process and systems and contribute to commission and incentive design as part of annual planning with sales and revenue operations leadership.

Within your first month

  • Complete general onboarding and meet the team.
  • Study and internalize the Grammarly sales commissions processes from start to end by shadowing team members and running through scenarios within our current systems to understand the current state of commissions.
  • Establish relationships with team members and cross-functional partners.
  • Learn Grammarly's GTM Operations and understand how we handle leads, accounts, opportunities, territories, and rules of engagement.

Within your first three months

  • Process sales commissions monthly and flag questions to leadership as you become more comfortable independently overseeing the process.
  • Identify critical areas for improvement in our sales process and roadmap initiatives over the next several months alongside your team.
  • Be the first point of contact for sales commission escalations, questions, and inquiries.
  • Engage in special projects for sales incentives and commission processes that foster sales adoption and operational excellence as we scale.
  • As the manager overseeing commissions, you should have a fairly solid understanding of our commissions philosophy and leverage core principles to make informed decisions in your daily work.

Within your first six months

  • Become the subject matter expert for our sales commissions process, including finer details like commission plan components, rules, calculations, terms and conditions, spiffs, and our commission tool design.
  • Establish methods to drive the adoption and build productivity of core processes and set up repeatable ways to track the success of initiatives to drive iterations and enhancements over time.
  • Understand the end-to-end commissions' process and systems to develop a strong perspective on strengths, weaknesses, and blind spots.
  • Consistently drive high-quality work with a team that delivers precise results on time or ahead of schedule.
  • Build best practices for sales commissions and incentive design into our Sales Operations Roadmap so we can consistently innovate and improve our process as you become more experienced with Grammarly’s sales commissions.

Qualifications

  • Has 7+ years of relevant experience in sales commissions for a B2B SaaS Company as part of a Revenue or Sales Operations function

  • Has experience working and having some oversight of sales commission software
  • Has a comprehensive knowledge of sales commissions' best practices and processes to motivate and incentivize sales reps
  • Has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and operate effectively while working on highly detailed work under tight deadlines
  • Has an unwavering commitment to producing high-quality work on time for sales commissions with high attention to detail
  • Is a determined and self-motivated person who can operate independently when the task calls for it and effectively manage a team to deliver quality results on time
  • Takes ownership of all aspects of role and seeks to uplevel processes over time and is deeply involved in their day to day
  • Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
  • Is inspired by our MOVE principles: move fast and learn faster; obsess about creating customer value; value impact over activity; and embrace healthy disagreement rooted in trust.
