Fourier is working on making on-site Hydrogen universally accessible. Our breakthrough architecture enables highly modular and fully automated electrolyzers that scale to any size and optimize efficiency at all loads. We are on a mission to transition the global energy landscape towards a purely sustainable and emission-free future.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to aid in the design, assembly, testing, and optimization of our system. The Fourier hardware platform integrates complex systems, including low to medium-pressure water and gas piping, medium-voltage high-power electronics, and hydrogen gas production and processing in outdoor environments. We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in designing robust, safety-critical hardware systems. Fourier engineers work in a hands-on, collaborative environment to solve problems and advance progress. Qualified candidates should have prior hands-on experience in a mechanical lab or an industrial company.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Complete lifecycle ownership (concept & detailed design, prototyping, assembly, deployment & support) of major components and assemblies within the Fourier product line
  • Create and maintain supporting documentation for your systems, including engineering drawings and Bill of Materials
  • Assess failure modes that involve thermal/structural/electrical/chemical/fluid interactions
  • Problem-solving and risk mitigation
  • Oversee the assembly and setup of benchtop test rigs, prototypes, and production units

Qualifications

Required:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Hands-on experience assembling mechanical and piping systems
  • Experience designing and building structures, from 3D CAD and/or 2D drawings through fabrication and assembly
  • Experience designing and developing cost-optimized solutions
  • Comfortable performing hand calculations

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D) in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field
  • Experience in the following areas:
  • FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis)
  • High-pressure industrial gas systems
  • Designing and analyzing energy and/or thermal management systems
  • Designing gas and/or liquid processing systems
  • Designing enclosures, busbars, and/or wire harnesses for electromechanical systems
  • Leak detection methodologies and implementation
  • Industrial-scale fluid handling systems

What we offer

  • Fully paid Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
  • Competitive salary and equity compensation commensurate with experience
  • 401k
  • Diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Paid sick days and vacation
  • Free lunches
