Fourier is working on making on-site Hydrogen universally accessible. Our breakthrough architecture enables highly modular and fully automated electrolyzers that scale to any size and optimize efficiency at all loads. We are on a mission to transition the global energy landscape towards a purely sustainable and emission free future.

About The Role

We are looking for a full time Sr. Electrical Engineer to work on conceptualization and development of new products through design of circuits and complex systems, bring up of power converters, and integration of power converter components into the electrolyzer system. In this role, you’ll also be responsible for setting up a lab for power electronics development and prototyping.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conceptualization and analysis of high power systems (>100 kW, AC-DC) to guide architecture and modularity of the system design.
  • Comparison and selection of converter topologies to meet system level design requirements (including input power quality, output current ripple, and efficiency).
  • Design of power electronic converters, both AC-DC and DC-DC up to 50kW for integration into larger power systems.
  • Protection circuit design for current, voltage, and temperature.
  • Modeling and simulation of power circuits
  • Selection of all circuit components.
  • Define converter control concept and complete small signal design and analysis.
  • Power loss analysis.
  • Thermal design and analysis of the power components.
  • Power quality design for 3 phase AC input (Power factor and total harmonic distortion)
  • Oversee procurement and assembly of hardware.
  • Lab bring-up and verification of initial design and revisions.
  • Support of the system integration and testing.
  • Work independently and exercise judgment in making design changes.

Qualifications And Skills

Qualified candidates for this role will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with extensive industry experience bringing power circuit designs/products from concept to field deployment. A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus.

Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of power conversion circuits and topologies
    • AC-DC: Totem pole PFC and 3 phase PFC, LLC
    • DC-DC: Buck, Full bridge, PSFB, DAB, and LLC
  • Knowledge and experience with LTspice, PLECS and Matlab Simulink.
  • Knowledge and experience with schematic capture tools with preference for Altium.
  • Knowledge and experience with printed circuit board design using popular CAD packages with a preference for Altium.
  • Knowledge and experience mitigating EMI through circuit design and PCB layout.
  • Knowledge of Matlab, Python, MathCAD and/or other common tools for design calculations.
  • Hands-on experience using lab equipment including soldering stations, oscilloscopes, power supplies, loads, network analyzers, data acquisition systems, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience designing high frequency magnetics is highly desirable.
  • Experience selecting (and designing with) microcontrollers is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Power Quality/EMI/EMC/Safety Regulatory Compliance is desirable.
  • Firmware development for embedded controllers is desirable.

What We Offer

  • Fully paid Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
  • Competitive salary and equity compensation commensurate with experience
  • 401k
  • Diverse and inclusive work environment
  • A unique opportunity to influence a product concept at the highest level and then lead the delivery of key components
  • Paid sick days and vacation

Compensation Range: $150K - $210K
