About the Role

Flashfood is on a mission to eliminate food waste at the retail level by connecting shoppers with discounted groceries nearing their best-before date. We partner with grocers across North America to help them recapture value from unsold food—while making groceries more affordable for consumers.

We’re looking for a Director of Independent Grocer Sales to lead the charge in growing our presence across independent and regional grocery banners. You’ll be responsible for closing new business, mentoring a team of sellers, and building out the next wave of growth for our Independent Grocer vertical. You will report to our VP of Revenue and work closely with our go-to-market and customer success teams to scale impact through strategic execution.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for a resourceful leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, knows how to sell into SMB and mid-market grocery chains, and can build a team to match their ambition.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and drive sales growth across independent and regional grocers in North America

  • Personally prospect, pitch, and close key accounts to model excellence for your team

  • Train, coach, and mentor a team of sellers at various stages of development

  • Develop scalable playbooks and sales strategies that can grow with the team

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success to refine value propositions and unlock vertical-specific opportunities

  • Track performance, set targets, and drive execution across your pipeline

  • Deliver accurate forecasts and progress reporting to senior leadership

  • Build and advocate for the next phase of team growth as we hit key milestones

About You

  • 8+ years of experience in B2B sales, with at least 3 years in sales leadership roles

  • Deep experience selling into independent or regional grocery businesses

  • Background in marketplace, logistics, or foodtech companies like Instacart, DoorDash, UberEats, Mercato, or similar

  • Proven ability to lead by example—your team learns from watching you close deals

  • Experience hiring, developing, and retaining high-performing sales talent

  • Strong strategic thinking—you can zoom out to identify root problems and zoom in to take decisive action

  • Exceptional communicator and team collaborator who thrives in a startup environment

  • Data-savvy: You know how to use insights to manage performance and improve conversion
