About the Role

Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies. We’re looking for a Systems Engineer, Business Applications who will play a key role within our G&A Systems Engineering team helping to drive our corporate and legal systems initiatives.

As part of our Business Systems Engineering team, you will be responsible for providing the day to day support for our corporate and legal systems. You will have expertise in task and project management systems such as the Jira platform, and a desire to play a key role on our Jira implementation team as our first Jira Administrator at Fivetran. You will also have the desire to branch out beyond Jira, and assist with our knowledge management solution, Slab, as well as being our primary point of contact for all Legal Systems efforts. You will be able to offer up your technical expertise to identify, analyze and develop solutions to complex business problems. You will play a key role in the maintenance, configuration and optimization across the systems you support. Our ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge across the various modules within Jira, while also having an open mindset to expand their systems toolkit.

This is a full-time position based out of our Oakland office.

Technologies You’ll Use

Jira, Slab, and Ironclad are examples of systems that you may encounter day to day. More importantly, we’re looking for someone who is willing to explore and learn new solutions and become the local expert in those.

What You’ll Do

  • Think broadly about processes and their dependencies, and create well-designed solutions beyond the immediate opportunity
  • Lead the configuration and customization of our Systems to align with business processes and requirements, inline with Fivetran’s Feature Development Life Cycle
  • Support configuration testing activities including UAT to E2E in close partnership with the business
  • Support the day to day of our corporate and legal systems, focusing on custom configurations, reporting, and native integrations
  • Troubleshoot any issues that arise, establishing the root cause and implementing a fix within a timely manner
  • Ensure Jira is kept up to date by managing patches and upgrades
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of system processes, configuration, and technical design
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across the organization to understand business needs
  • Assess Corporate and Legal workflows and identify opportunities for process improvements and automation
  • Assist in developing overall Corporate and Legal roadmap recommendations

Skills We’re Looking For

  • 5+ Years of Jira Administration experience
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Strong understanding of Agile project management methodologies.
  • Thinking as the end user first, focused on the experience and UX customization
  • Experience implementing Jira at a very R&D heavy organization
  • Solid understanding of Jira system configuration including Jira Automation, scripting, and Jira Query Language
  • Familiarity with Jira integrations such as Github
  • Eager to learn and stretch beyond your comfort level
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail

Optional Bonus Skills​

  • Atlassian Certified Jira Administrator, Atlassian Certified Jira Project Administrator, Atlassian Certified Jira Service Management Administrator, Atlassian Certified in Managing Jira Cloud Projects
  • Experience as a software engineer / systems analyst, or as a systems engineer applying software development principles to internal systems
  • Experience with related corporate systems, such as Github, Carta, Ironclad, Coupa, Aha - we work cross-functionally and you’ll encounter these from time to time
  • Public company experience and a working understanding of system and process controls.
  • Proficiency in general-purpose programming languages, SQL, and general data literacy.

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the target position and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, business need, market demands. This range represents base salary only and does not include incentive for sales roles, equity, or benefits, if applicable.
