About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Solution Architect to join our dedicated Professional Services team. You will sit at the heart of our mission – empowering businesses to unlock transformative insights from their data. Fivetran’s goal is to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity.


This role demands the capacity, capability, and drive to successfully deliver projects and solutions throughout the customer journey. This includes securing technical wins in collaboration with sales engineering, creating seamless customer onboarding experiences, providing customer care, maintaining ongoing engagement, fostering consumption growth, and ensuring net revenue retention.


The Solution Architect will act as an internal advocate for customers and bring the voice of the customer into the rest of the organisation to share perspectives leading to an increase in meaningful outcomes and increasing business value to our customers.


Using your experience with Data Replication/Integration, ETL/ELT, cloud data warehousing, and analytics, you will skillfully guide prospects and partners to faster, more reliable, and secure data integration solutions.. You will be directly and enthusiastically supported by a world-class Professional Services team and a great product that “just works.”


This is a full-time position based out of Japan. Candidate must be fluent in English and Japanese.


Technologies You’ll Use

  • Fivetran
  • AWS, GCP, or Azure environments and services
  • REST APIs and modern data integration platforms
  • On-premise and cloud databases (Oracle, MS SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery, etc.)
  • SQL, Python, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • Containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)


What You’ll Do

  • Deliver best-in-class schemas and clean data, designed to be intuitively useful to analysts
  • Advise customers: Provide guidance on data & system architecture, and support the implementation of Fivetran connectors following best practices.
  • Create automation solutions: Develop scripts and automations using Fivetran’s CLI or APIs.
  • Provide technical support: Offer deep technical knowledge and understanding of Fivetran products and the data landscape to assist customers.
  • Act as a liaison: Serve as the technical bridge between customers and Fivetran’s product, engineering, and support teams.
  • Build relationships: Foster strong connections with all stakeholders, both internal and external, across business and technical roles.
  • Collaborate for improvement: Work closely with pre-sales, support, product, and engineering teams to continuously enhance the customer journey.
  • Deliver high-quality data: Provide best-in-class schemas and clean data that is intuitively useful for analysts.
    Engage proactively: Actively participate in product and engineering roadmap discussions, gathering and sharing customer/prospect feedback.
  • Contribute to documentation: Assist in creating and maintaining documentation for Fivetran products, internal knowledge base, and training resources.
  • Excel in technical challenges: Thrive in complex technical discussions and troubleshooting scenarios, delivering effective solutions.


Skills We’re Looking For

  • Core Database Expertise: 3-5+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, SAP, PostgreSQL, MariaDB/MySQL, and MongoDB or similar enterprise database systems, including end-user support and systems integration.
  • Networking and Data Integration Mastery: Proven proficiency of networking approaches, including Private Links, SSH tunnels and VPNs, as well as data replication/integration tools, particularly Change Data Capture (CDC) solutions.
  • SQL Fluency, Scripting & API Familiarity: Knowledge of Python/JavaScript and experience interacting with REST APIs for data extraction, automation, and integration.
  • Cloud Platform Proficiency: Working knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their associated data services.
  • Data Warehousing & Lake Expertise: Familiarity with modern cloud data warehousing solutions (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Databricks) and data lake architectures (Kafka, HDFS, S3, ADLS).
  • Team Player, Effective Communication: Skill in translating complex technical concepts for business stakeholders and influencing technical decisions and an ability to effectively collaborate with customers and cross-functional internal stakeholders
  • Problem-Solving Acumen: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address data integration complexities.

  • Continuous Learning: Eagerness to learn new technologies quickly and share knowledge with others.
  • Working Experience or understanding of Kafka Messaging
  • Data-Driven Mindset: Passion for data and analytics, with a focus on leveraging technology to solve business challenges.
  • SAP Ecosystem Knowledge (Advantageous): Experience with SAP ECC, SAP Hana, or S/4 Hana is a plus.
  • Enablement: Ability to prepare and deliver a product related enablement session to customers and partners.
