About the Role

As a Senior Data Engineer at Félix, you will work closely with cross‑functional teams to support data integration, transformation, and analytics, contributing to the success of our data‑driven initiatives. You’ll also collaborate with backend and services teams to ensure our data infrastructure underpins scalable services and performant databases.

Responsibilities

  • Data Architecture: Design and implement robust, scalable, cloud‑based data architectures leveraging Google Cloud Platform.
  • Data Integration: Develop ETL pipelines to extract data from various sources, transform it for analysis, and load it into the data warehouse.
  • Data Modeling: Create and maintain data models supporting business intelligence, analytics, and reporting.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Implement data cataloging, metadata management, and quality checks using tools like Data Plex; ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • dbt Development: Design, develop, and maintain modular data transformation pipelines using dbt (Data Build Tool), including models, tests, and documentation for version-controlled workflows.
  • Data Security: Enforce security & compliance (encryption at rest/in transit, data masking, IAM policies).
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve bottlenecks in data processing, storage, and query performance.
  • Backend Database Management: Design, implement, and optimize relational and NoSQL database schemas (e.g., Cloud SQL, Spanner, Bigtable) to support high‑throughput services.
  • Services & Microservices Support: Collaborate with backend engineering to integrate data platforms with microservices; build and maintain data‑accessible APIs or services, ensuring low latency and high availability.
  • Version Control: Implement and maintain Git-based workflows, including branching strategies, code reviews, and merge processes.
  • Collaboration: Partner with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to understand requirements and deliver data solutions.
  • Automation & Monitoring: Build CI/CD for data workflows, automate pipelines, and set up monitoring/alerting (e.g., Stackdriver, Prometheus).
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, schemas, APIs, and best practices.

Requirements

  • 7-8 years of proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong expertise with GCP data solutions (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Pub/Sub) or AWS equivalents.
  • Solid experience building and operating Airflow (Composer) pipelines.
  • Proficiency in Python (preferred), Java, or Scala for ETL and data services.
  • Hands‑on experience with data warehousing and modeling in BigQuery or similar.
  • Deep knowledge of backend database technologies (relational and NoSQL), schema design, indexing, and query tuning.
  • Experience designing or supporting microservices/data‑centric services (RESTful APIs, gRPC).
  • Proven experience with Git for version control, branching strategies, and pull request workflows.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and service orchestration.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and a pragmatic approach to engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work in cross‑functional teams.
  • These are the applicable requisites, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered.
