About us

The mission 🏔

With nearly half of Americans suffering from a chronic health condition that can be better managed with nutrition, Fay is on a mission to elevate the role that food plays in healthcare.

The product 🛠

As a two-person founding team, we've built a platform where thousands of people have met with licensed dietitians to treat their health conditions through nutrition — with insurance companies covering the cost of care. Dietitians are thrilled to have a digital medical practice that handles everything from insurance to patient sourcing so they can focus on their patients and ultimately be their own boss. And patients love getting convenient and personalized 1-on-1 care at little to no cost.

The traction 📈

We’re a rare bird, having launched a bootstrapped product as two founders and finding at every step of the way that there’s more demand than we can possibly handle. We have a working business with significant revenue, and our revenue growth is the fastest in our industry.

The team 💪

So far, it’s been just the two of us: Sam, a Harvard dropout with a family full of dietitians, and Mark, an ex-Google engineer who’s seen startups go from a garage to multi-billion dollar acquisition. And now we’re building what we like to call the Marvel team of early-stage startups.

The funding 💰

We just raised millions of dollars from some of the best VCs and angels across tech and healthcare.

What is the role?

As founding software engineer, you’ll be the lead developer and first member of the software team (apart from the CTO). The role requires deep experience building modern software platforms, with backend development being the core responsibility but the more full-stack the better.

This is a special career opportunity: to be the head builder of a nascent product that’s in high demand and to be at the center of a start-up that’s growing at top speed. It will take a lot of work and entail a lot of responsibility, but you will learn and grow faster than you could in any other type of role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Coding: Writing the foundational code for our cloud platform and plenty more code after that
  • Architecting: Using your understanding of company strategy and product vision to make key decisions about the tech stack and system architecture
  • Standard-setting: Cultivating the company’s software culture — code style, code quality, developer workflows
  • Direction-setting: Teaming up with the CEO and CTO to decide what to build, fix or refactor, at which point we’ll step out of the way and let you work autonomously
  • Coaching: Guiding and mentoring other software engineers on the team
Fay Nutrition is an equal opportunity employer.
