Technical writers are the bridge between complex information and the people who need to understand it. They're adept at creating a range of educational content - from blog posts and website material to documentation, UI text, sample code, and videos. What makes them stand out is their talent for unpacking intricate subjects into digestible, valuable insights for their audience. They're not just writers; they're storytellers, tailoring the narrative to meet their readers where they are.

In this role, your responsibility is to collaborate with engineers, marketing, and product to articulate new features, share company news, and amplify customer stories. You'll also refine existing content, and respond to customer input and bugs. You know what’s happening in the tech landscape and come up with your own ideas that resonate with current discussions, crafting blog posts and use cases to grow our audience, build our reputation, and engage the community. This is your chance to work alongside our stellar engineering team, diving into tools, processes, and fresh ideas.

Responsibilities:

• Write a weekly Bacalhau/Expanso blog post. (https://blog.bacalhau.org/)
• Write technical documentation for developers and enterprise customers including concept docs, how-to guides, and API reference docs.
• Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by others.
• Rewrite and reorganize existing documentation to improve the customer experience.
• Design and organize documentation sets for new features.
• Write website content.
• Write and test small code samples. (optional - for writers with coding skills)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience creating content for technical audiences (e.g., developer documentation, technical blog/article writing, computer science course material, or IT playbooks).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to produce clear, engaging content for a diverse audience (including writing samples)
• Strong technical background with an understanding of distributed computing or related fields.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Writing, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• Familiarity with Distributed Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
• Excellent coding skills.
