About the role:
Ethos is looking for a Senior Product Manager, Life Insurance Products with solid experience in the life insurance industry. This includes involvement in developing and launching new life insurance products, understanding policy administration systems, and knowledge of the entire life insurance lifecycle — including product design, distribution, underwriting, purchase, and administration.
You will play a significant role in identifying and analyzing new product and insurance distribution opportunities. The goal is to help ensure the products developed deliver strong value to customers, agents, and partners.
In this role, you will work with cross-functional teams of engineers, designers, and data scientists to streamline the end-to-end life insurance lifecycle. Success requires validating key hypotheses, iterating quickly to achieve product-market fit, and optimizing products to scale.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Help lead the end-to-end development of life insurance products, including Whole Life, Permanent Life, Term, Indexed Universal Life, Final Expense, Disability Insurance, and insurance riders.
- Collaborate closely with carrier partners to implement new products and ensure seamless integration into the broader product ecosystem.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, design, internal stakeholders, and third parties to develop an understanding of policy administration systems and their role in the life insurance lifecycle.
- Assist with integrating policy administration systems and other carrier systems to ensure smooth product implementation, data flow, and operational efficiency.
- Leverage ACORD standards to enable standardized insurance data exchange, alignment, and compliance across systems.
- Analyze new product opportunities and insurance distribution channels to ensure products meet customer needs while delivering business value.
- Contribute to the development and integration of eApplication systems to simplify the life insurance application process and improve the customer experience.
- Support policy contract creation systems to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant generation of policy documents and contracts.
- Help create a clear and compelling medium- and long-term vision for specific Ethos product areas.
- Participate in a product discovery process for exploring new product ideas. Use experiments to validate key hypotheses quickly and effectively.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in product management with a proven track record of contributing to the launch of life insurance products and delivering demonstrated results.
- Strong knowledge of the entire life insurance lifecycle, including policy administration systems, underwriting, and policy issuance.
- Experience with ACORD standards to facilitate standardized insurance data exchange and alignment across processes.
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining eApplication systems to enhance the digital insurance application experience.
- Proficiency in policy contract creation systems to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in policy document generation.
- Experience integrating with policy administration systems and other carrier systems to support seamless product implementation and operational workflows.
- Experience with life insurance illustration platforms.
- Strong analytical skills to identify and evaluate new product opportunities and insurance distribution channels. Ensure alignment with customer needs and business goals.
- A demonstrated ability to help scale and optimize products, driving both usage and customer satisfaction.
- A growth mindset — you thrive on experimentation, data analysis, and an unwavering focus on delivering results.
- A strong understanding of current product best practices, with a forward-thinking perspective on the future of product development.
- A sense of urgency and the ability to make an impact in a fast-paced environment.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about transforming the life insurance industry. You will help in the development of innovative, customer-centric products that deliver real value across the entire insurance ecosystem.
