Equip is a virtual program helping families recover from eating disorders at home with comprehensive, gold-standard care created by experts in the field and people in recovery. Equip’s five-person care teams include dietitians, physicians, therapists, and mentors who deliver wrap-around support to provide families healing and lasting recovery.
We created Equip to increase access to evidence-based treatment for all people affected by eating disorders. About the role:
Equip's engineering team is growing rapidly and we're looking for an Engineering Manager to help scale the org. Our team is a thoughtful bunch that cares about delighting our patients and providers by excelling at both code quality and design thinking. We value transparency and believe in fostering an inclusive, collaborative, helpful team environment. We’re looking for an engineering manager who is inspired to mentor, grow, and help teams succeed, especially when the team is still small and nimble. You’re an experienced people manager and adept project manager who can guide developers to perform at their best and also remove any blockers that may appear.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leader - Lead agile software processes and help refine the product and engineering roadmap to drive user value and business impactLead a full-stack engineering team technically and contribute code on a regular basis to new features and new projects
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to the team in software engineering best practices
  • Help prioritize work for your team, making difficult tradeoffs on design based on business constraints, ensuring on-time deliverables and high-quality software
  • Provide hands-on technical management, guidance, and support including system/design/code review, and ultimately be responsible for the health of the systems your team builds
  • Mentor and continue to grow engineering teams, that deliver high quality software, with minimal defects, high availability, while monitoring observability and incident response processes to drive improvements
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring decisions, on-boarding, and mentoring of new engineers with the goal of quickly making them productive members of your team

Job Responsibilities:

  • 7+ years of engineering work experience and
  • 3+ years of hands-on technical management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Proven ability to collaborate with product managers and engineers to build plans, set expectations, and successfully deliver projects
  • Ability to balance business needs, a sense of urgency, and shipping high quality and pragmatic solutions
  • Strong team building and empowering skills; you love building scalable and high-performing teams of engineers
  • Knowledge of AWS services, open source technologies, and industry best practices regarding big data
