About the role:
The Medical Lead is responsible for providing direct patient care as well as clinical supervision and management of a team of medical Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. The Medical Lead will collaborate with Clinical Operations and other Clinical teams in the enrollment, medical clearance, and clinical care of patients with eating disorders.
The Medical Lead will be an experienced people manager with strong clinical experience and skills in providing evidence-based treatment with a data-driven mindset in line with Equip’s treatment philosophy and model. Above all, the Medical Lead is someone who is motivated by the ultimate goal of providing the highest quality, evidence-based treatments for eating disorders so that everyone can achieve lasting recovery.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive assessments and diagnoses of eating disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions (psychiatric consultation available).
- Implement medication treatment plans for eating disorders and co-occurring conditions in a virtual clinic (i.e. telehealth) setting.
- Collaborate with a multiple disciplinary treatment team of physicians, dietitians, therapists, patient mentors, and family mentors, along with outside providers.
- Proactively identify issues and help develop solutions in partnership with the Medical Director.
- Collaborate with the Practice Management team on patient intake prioritization.
- Complete thorough documentation within Equip’s electronic medical record in accordance with Equip’s policies and procedures.
- Directly manage a team of Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants, including providing consultation and support for clinical issues, handling escalations from patients or parents, conducting audits of session notes, and providing training and of medical evidence-based treatments.
- Provide medical supervision in collaboration with the supervising physician.
- Provide coverage to direct reports when they are out of the office to ensure patient safety.
- Ensure all direct reports adhere to Equip’s policies and procedures, regulatory requirements and compliance expectations.
- Effectively manage performance for direct reports, providing continuous feedback, writing and delivering performance reviews, and initiating performance improvement plans when necessary.
- Participate in medical clearance as needed, moving patients through the medical clearance queue as clinically appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Have and maintain an active, unrestricted medical license and be qualified to obtain medical licensure in other states (costs and licensing service provided by Equip).
- Board-certified in Pediatrics or Family Medicine.
- 5+ years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in an outpatient setting.
- 1+ years of experience providing clinical supervision and/or people management experience and/or informal clinical leadership experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to practicing excellent, evidence-based clinical care, advancing clinical skills, and a passion for professional development.
- Passion for helping patients and their families as they navigate eating disorder treatment.
- Strong problem solving skills with an ability to understand and balance business needs with clinical priorities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to build effective, professional, and collaborative relationships both internally and externally.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven track record of meeting assigned goals.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with and learning new technologies.
- Comfortable working in a remote environment including the requirement to be on camera.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and ability to think critically to quickly and accurately work through challenges in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
Schedule
- Monday - Friday
- Some evenings till 6 pm
- Must reside in EST or CST
Physical Demands
Work is performed 100% from home with no requirement to travel. This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone. Sit or stand as needed.
