We’re looking for an Associate Legal Counsel to join our Legal team and provide comprehensive legal support to our teams across the organization. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, ensuring compliance with privacy laws, and providing strategic legal advice on varied and dynamic issues. The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial law, excellent English communication skills, and familiarity with applicable privacy laws.

Empathy’s BizOps team is about driving growth, streamlining processes, and optimizing efficiency by implementing scalable strategies that set us up for success. Our Legal team is key in enabling efficient decision-making and fostering a secure and dynamic environment that drives our efforts forward.
In this role you will
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts including customer agreements, vendor agreements, partnership/referral/consulting agreements, and NDAs.
- Enhance Empathy’s privacy program to comply with various privacy laws and regulations (such as CCPA, Israeli privacy laws, and HIPAA) and provide ongoing guidance on data protection and privacy issues.
- Collaborate closely with teams across the organization (such as Product, R&D, and Partner Success) to address legal needs and implement best practices.
- Advise on employment matters such as drafting employment agreements, advising on workplace policies, ensuring compliance with labor regulations in Israel and in states across the US, and overseeing ESOP practices and workflows.
- Build out Empathy’s legal roadmap for entering new markets and execute roadmap implementation.
- Advise on corporate legal matters such as corporate governance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws and regulations affecting the company’s operations.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on legal issues and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's law degree and qualification to practice law in Israel and/or the US.
- 3+ years of commercial law experience in a commercial or hi-tech department at a law firm, or serving as in-house counsel at a tech company.
- Experience and comfort with drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Mastery of English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with privacy laws and regulations (such as CPRA, US state laws, HIPAA) – an advantage.
- CIPP/US – an advantage.
- Corporate legal experience – an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
