Location: Hybrid - Remote/Bristol

Job type: Full time / fixed term contract with potential to go permanent

Compensation: £32,000 - £40,000 depending on experience

About the role

Ecologi’s finance function is undergoing a major update/overhaul and we are looking for someone with experience of embedding new systems and processes to help with a smooth transition.

We are also looking to grow through acquisition and need a safe pair of hands to help integrate our separate finance functions. Ideally you will naturally be looking for opportunities to synergise and streamline the two finance functions to create a best in class group finance structure.

The Day-to-Day

  • Prepare departmental and group reports, including variance analysis and commentary against budget, forecast, and prior periods.

  • Contribute to finance system implementation (e.g., Hubdoc, Syft, Approval Max, and upcoming expense systems).

  • Improve processes and document new policies and workflows.

  • Handle bookkeeping and management accounting tasks, including full balance sheet reconciliations and posting journals (e.g., accruals, prepayments).

  • Lead the project to bring payroll in-house

  • Lead the project to integrate the finance function of a newly acquired entity

  • Manage the transition of VAT returns in-house, taking responsibility for quarterly filings and addressing VAT-related queries (partial exemption experience is beneficial but not mandatory).

About You

  • Part-qualified, studying towards an accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA), or qualified by experience (QBE).

  • Open to candidates at various levels of experience—established professionals or those eager to develop further.

  • AAT qualified as a minimum.

  • At least two years of experience in management accounting or bookkeeping.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.

  • Comfortable balancing routine bookkeeping tasks with more complex and project-based work.

  • Able to collaborate effectively with non-finance colleagues and provide support for their queries.

  • Curious and proactive, always seeking opportunities for continuous improvement in finance systems and processes.

  • Familiarity with Stripe, Shopify, and handling large data sets.

  • Proficient in Excel or Google Sheets at an intermediate level.

  • A self-starter who thrives in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

  • Organised, with strong time management skills and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines.
