Strategy & Planning Manager

As a Strategic Planning Manager, you will lead the strategic planning function for deliveroo’s merchant team. This is a high-impact role that defines our annual strategic plans, ensures strategic priorities are translated into actionable plans and targets, and tracked effectively. You will be the key strategic partner to the merchant leadership and a wide range of cross-functional teams, including Commercial, Product, Finance, Marketing, and Data Science. This role reports into the Mx Strategy Director.

This role requires excellent planning and project management skills paired with strong commercial acumen. We are looking for someone who can work at the most senior level, juggle multiple complex projects, motivate senior stakeholders and cut through detail to craft a sharp narrative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Annual and Quarterly Planning: Own and run the Merchant org’s annual and quarterly planning cycles. You’ll work with senior leaders to turn high-level strategy into clear plans and ensure resources are allocated to the right priorities.

  • Target Setting & Tracking: Lead the target-setting process from start to finish. You’ll build and manage the tracking systems and reporting that keep everyone accountable for hitting OKRs and business goals.

  • Reporting: Be the primary voice for reporting progress on the Mx strategy. You’ll translate complex updates into clear, concise narratives for the wider company and weekly updates for the Executive team.

  • Strategic Project Oversight: Take full responsibility for key strategic projects. This means getting stakeholders aligned, resolving blockages, and making sure the roll-out to frontline teams is a success.

  • Support for Pods: Provide hands-on support to our cross-functional teams ("Pods"). You’ll manage their ways of working, align on their templates and meeting processes, and act as the bridge between them and the global market leadership teams.

  • Ways of Working: Take the lead on how the merchant leadership team and their teams operate to achieve strategic targets. You will own the structure and content of monthly area reviews to ensure these meetings stay productive and focused.

  • Leadership Team Processes: Build and manage the day-to-day processes that help the leadership team stay organized, make decisions quickly, and keep information flowing smoothly across the business.

  • Operational Excellence: Set and maintain a high bar for how the team works. You’ll ensure our processes are simple, repeatable, and actually help the business hit its objectives rather than adding unnecessary friction.

About You

  • 6+ years of experience in consulting, strategy, chief of staff, business operations, or product operations; in a fast moving environment

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence across teams and Exec level leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to drive structure, clarity and impact in complex environments

  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to balance tight deadlines with managing the impact on our frontline teams and merchant partners

  • High personal ownership and bias for action, while knowing when to escalate or seek alignment

  • Collaborative mindset, able to work across a diverse set of teams and perspectives

  • (Bonus) Experience in marketplaces, consumer tech, food delivery or multi-market businesses
