What you'll do:
As the first Strategy and Business Development professional at cTRL Tx, you will have a unique opportunity to architect overall strategy and business development plans. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for strategic assessment and deal execution, playing a critical role in fundraising, and identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships, alliances, and collaborations that align with our mission. You will play a central role in establishing cTRL as a leader in cell therapies for solid tumors.
Reporting Line:
This role reports directly to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities:
Partnership Development:
- Identify and assess potential partners, collaborators, and licensors to expand cTRL's collaborators.
Deal Negotiation and Execution:
- In collaboration with the leadership team, you will lead, negotiate, and execute licensing agreements and partnerships, ensuring favorable terms for the company and its stakeholders.
Fundraising:
- Help us craft and hone our fundraising narrative based on feedback from potential investors.
- Build and maintain a right-scaled CRM.
- Establish and grow our brand through thoughtful and measured follow-ups.
- Manage the scheduling and meeting cycles to keep things moving forward.
Market Analysis:
- Conduct thorough market research and analysis, staying up-to-date on key trends and developments, competitors, and opportunities for strategic growth.
Pipeline Expansion:
- Work closely with the R&D teams to understand the platform and evolving science, identifying potential areas for partnership and collaboration.
Relationship Management:
- You will develop strong relationships with current and potential key stakeholders, including industry partners, investors, and thought leaders.
Business Strategy:
- You will contribute to the overall business strategy by providing insights into market dynamics, potential growth areas, and partnership opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- You will collaborate closely with internal teams and consultants, including R&D, regulatory, legal, and finance, to ensure alignment and smooth execution of deals, collaborations, and business plans.
You should have:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of life science (advanced degree preferred).
- Have a proven track record of at least 5+ years in business development, strategic partnerships, or related roles within an early-stage startup, ideally within the biotechnology, biopharma, medical devices, and/or life sciences industries.
- Investment banking and/or strategy consulting firms such as McKinsey & Company, BCG, or Bain & Company experience is desired and may be a substitute or a complement to biotech experience.
- You have a deep interest or experience in cell therapies and/or advanced modalities.
- You are self-motivated and can thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.
- You have participated in or led successfully negotiated and closed deals with partners, investors, or collaborators.
- You have exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and manage those skills across audiences and levels.
- You can leverage strategic opportunities to identify and evaluate new business opportunities.
- You can travel to meetings, conferences, and industry events as needed.
