About the Role

Commure is on the lookout for a Senior Back-End Engineer to join our Strongline Engineering team, playing a pivotal role in enhancing our healthcare real-time location system (RTLS) product. This position is perfect for someone who is deeply passionate about making meaningful contributions in healthcare through advanced technology solutions. As a Senior Back-End Engineer, you will not only be involved in coding but also in leading and architecting solutions that have a significant impact in the healthcare industry. Your expertise will drive the simplification and enhancement of healthcare services, benefiting countless individuals. This full-time position requires working 5 days a week in our Mountain View, CA office.

The Strongline team is focused on building a reliable, innovative, and scalable IoT platform for hospitals. This platform delivers essential services like staff safety, asset tracking, and patient elopement solutions, with plans for further expansion. Reliability is at the core of our product, challenging engineers to deepen their technical expertise to ensure uninterrupted, seamless support for healthcare providers. Our team constantly innovates, creating cutting-edge algorithms and data pipelines to meet the complex demands of IoT systems. As our platform continues to grow, engineers play a critical role in addressing the challenges of scalability, managing high data loads, and ensuring the system's capacity to evolve with the industry’s needs.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the research and development of solutions on real-time location system.

  • Designs and develops applications and solutions for connected devices. Implement IoT protocols and communication standards, and collaborate with hardware engineers.

  • Act as a key player in designing solutions and owning accuracy, performance, and scalability

  • Oversee and participate in collaborative efforts, setting a standard for swift execution and strategic decision-making.

  • Manage complex data-driven tasks, including building data processing pipelines, machine learning training and inference, and building innovative algorithms.

  • Mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional teams in various projects.

What You Have

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineer, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience required.

  • 2+ years of professional back-end development experience required

  • Advanced Back-End Programming Skills with a high level of proficiency in Python and Javascript.

  • Mastered using scientific methods to solve problems with observation, experimentation, and analysis.

  • Deep expertise in developing and managing complex data pipelines and extensive experience with Signal processing, machine learning, and time series analysis.

  • A strategic thinker with a builder’s mindset, passionate about high-impact projects.

  • Demonstrated expertise in building, scaling, and maintaining sophisticated production environments.

  • Advanced skills in system monitoring, alerting, reporting, metrics tracking, and software reliability engineering.

  • An exceptional sense of product development with a keen focus on metrics and performance

  • A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.

  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and guide team members effectively.

  • Practical knowledge of cloud platforms, wireless transmission, and algorithm development.

  • In-depth understanding of how different sensors work and transmit data.

  • Comfortable experimenting with and using AI and other types of machine learning to synthesize data.

  • Commitment to product security, privacy, data protection, and retrieval knowledge.

  • Strong written, communication, and analytical skills.

  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and highly technical environment.
