The Role You’ll Play:
As Product Counsel, you’ll sit at the intersection of innovation and integrity—helping shape how we build and deliver experiences across Mindbody, ClassPass, and the broader Playlist ecosystem. You’ll be embedded with our Product, Design, Engineering, and Marketing teams to ensure that legal guidance is part of every product decision from the start. Your focus will be on enabling speed without sacrificing trust.
- Act as the go-to legal partner for product teams across the full development lifecycle, from concept to launch.
- Provide expert guidance on consumer protection, AI, data privacy, and marketing regulations across global markets.
- Stay ahead of the curve on evolving laws and regulations—translating complexity into actionable insights for teams.
- Embed privacy by design and support internal processes like impact assessments, data mapping, and privacy reviews.
- Help shape internal standards for privacy, safety, and security in partnership with engineering and security teams.
- Draft and maintain user-facing policies, including terms of use, privacy notices, and contractual templates.
- Support marketing and commercial teams on campaign review and contract escalations, ensuring compliance while enabling creativity.
- Bring a collaborative mindset to cross-functional projects, M&A diligence, product escalations, and process improvements.
Experience You Bring:
- JD or international legal qualification and licensed to practice law.
- 7–10 years of legal experience, with meaningful in-house time (ideally in tech, SaaS, or digital products).
- Deep understanding of US, UK, and EU consumer protection laws and how they apply to tech products.
- Strong working knowledge of global privacy frameworks, including CCPA, GDPR, and state-specific laws.
- Experience supporting product teams in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where business speed is key.
- A collaborative, low-ego approach with a passion for turning legal advice into business-friendly solutions.
- Confident communicator with the ability to tailor your message to engineers, executives, and everyone in between.
- Detail-oriented and curious, with strong instincts for risk and sound judgment on when to dig in or let go.

The goal of Playlist's compensation program is to be transparent, attract potential employees, meet the needs of all current employees, and encourage Team Members to stay with our organization.
Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
The base salary range for this position in the United States is $151,275 - $201,700. The total compensation package for this position may also include performance bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
