About The RoleThe Senior Data Warehouse Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise data warehouse solutions and related data infrastructure. This role serves as a technical leader for complex, multi-dimensional projects while collaborating closely with data engineers, architects, analysts on squad roadmaps, strategic initiatives and implement technical designs for various subject areas. The position requires deep technical expertise in modern data stack technologies, financial accountability for platform operations, and the ability to drive systematic improvements across the data ecosystem while ensuring adherence to governance standards and best practices. This position collaborates with functional business leaders to coordinate development activities around internal and external facing solutions. Ensures that squad, pillar and org strategic goals are met.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:- Tech in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field
- 8+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, data warehousing or platform engineering
- 6+ years of hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake preferred, Databricks, AWS data services)
- 5+ years of experience leading technical projects and cross-functional initiatives
- 3+ years of experience with infrastructure as code tools (Pulumi, Terraform, or similar)
- Advanced proficiency in Python for data engineering, automation, and platform development
- Extensive experience with modern data ingestion patterns, ETL/ELT Architecture, and Batch and stream data processing.
- Knowledge of Snowflake Advanced features (Snowpark, Streams, Tasks, Data Sharing, Dynamic Tables)
- Knowledge of Snowflake AI capabilities for optimization and analytics.
- Familiarity with Atlan or similar data catalog and governance platforms.
- Proven understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management and regulatory compliance
- Strong expertise in SQL optimization and database performance tuning with enterprise-scale systems
- Deep knowledge of data modeling principles for analytical workloads (dimensional modeling, star schema etc.)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing for data engineering workloads
- Hands-on experience with Agile development methodologies and project management tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps)
- Background in technical debt assessment and systematic platform improvements
- Demonstrated ability to manage project timelines, delegate technical tasks, and coordinate complex deliverables.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with high ambiguity
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Leadership experience pertaining to the mentoring, development, and growth of engineering teams
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead complex, multi-dimensional projects involving scale, uncertainty, risk management, and cross-team dependencies, including creation of comprehensive project timelines and delegation of technical tasks to ensure successful launch execution.
- Design and implement scalable data warehouse solutions using modern cloud platforms with deep understanding of company architecture, contributing to strategic direction and evolution of data platform tooling ecosystem.
- Build robust, enterprise-scale ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data engineering frameworks, implementing sophisticated data ingestion patterns supporting both real-time and batch processing requirements.
- Optimize data warehouse processes for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness across multiple environments while developing comprehensive data quality validation, monitoring, and alerting frameworks.
- Deploy and manage cloud data infrastructure using infrastructure as code with financial accountability, implementing CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows.
- Monitor and report on infrastructure spending, providing recommendations for budget planning.
- Establish and evangelize best practice governance processes across data engineering teams, implementing data lineage, cataloging, and comprehensive metadata management solutions.
- Ensure adherence to governance standards in production operations through automated controls and monitoring, collaborating with data producers, consumers and compliance teams to maintain regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with data-pillar squads, product managers to define squad technical roadmaps, review and approve technical gate designs for all projects within assigned domains and ensure alignment with architectural standards.
- Identify, prioritize, and systematically address technical debt items across the data platform ecosystem, conducting regular assessments of system architecture and recommending improvements for scalability and maintainability.
- Drive platform modernization initiatives while ensuring backward compatibility and minimal service disruption, championing engineering excellence through code reviews, documentation standards, and knowledge sharing.
- Interface with multiple internal & external squads on large-scale initiatives spanning multiple roadmap cycles, working closely with product, data and analytics squads and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Evaluate and implement emerging data engineering technologies and industry best practices, contributing to the evolution of data platform capabilities and engineering standards while fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
