About the right team member

As Director of Sales Compensation, you will lead the strategy, execution, and governance of our global sales compensation programs. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for building and optimizing scalable incentive frameworks that drive revenue performance, align with financial plans, and support our global growth.

One of the key priorities of this role is to build and scale foundational systems by fully automating incentive logic and calculations in Xactly, replacing spreadsheets and manual processes to ensure audit readiness, accuracy, and scalability. This is a high-impact workstream that spans a complex, global business with both B2B SaaS and B2C marketplace revenue models. Beyond automation, you’ll help streamline plan design, standardize frameworks, and lay the groundwork for scalable governance across multiple go-to-market motions. You won’t walk into a fully built machine, but you will have the opportunity to design it. If you're someone who runs toward complexity, not away from it, and thrives on shaping structure in fast-moving environments, this role offers the platform to lead a critical transformation.

You will partner cross-functionally with Sales, Revenue Operations, Finance, and People teams to ensure incentive plans are competitive, data-driven, well-governed, and aligned with business goals. This role is ideal for a collaborative, analytical leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and brings deep expertise in incentive design and operational rigor.

About the role

  • Lead the strategy, design, implementation, and administration of global sales compensation programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and financial goals
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert on incentive design, plan mechanics, and commission structures for all revenue-generating teams
  • Drive the full migration of plans and payees into Xactly, eliminating spreadsheet logic and embedding standardized rules for accuracy and audit compliance
  • Partner with Revenue Operations, Finance, and Payroll to ensure accurate and timely commission payouts, accruals and forecasting
  • Establish and enforce governance standards for all incentive programs, including change control, audit trails, and cross-functional accountability
  • Launch dashboards and self-service reporting tools to improve visibility for leaders and reps
  • Analyze plan effectiveness and partner with leadership to refine programs that support performance and scalability
  • Resolve commission disputes with fairness and speed
  • Mentor and lead a high-performing team of sales compensation professionals, building operational depth and consistency
  • Stay informed on external market trends, benchmarks, and best practices

Skills & experience

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in sales compensation, including 3+ years in a leadership or director-level role
  • Proven experience designing, building, and optimizing global commission plans, including ownership of plan documentation and change control processes
  • Deep experience implementing, optimizing, and automating plans in Xactly
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 compliance and its application to commissions accounting, especially in preparation for IPO or audit readiness
  • Experience improving compensation controls, audit trails, and governance
  • Strategic thinker with a data-driven mindset and ability to influence executive stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Tableau, Power BI, and CRM/reporting integrations
  • Proven ability to proactively identify, escalate, and resolve complex issues and disputes with clarity, speed, and sound judgment
  • Strong communication, stakeholder influence, and analytical skills—paired with the confidence to challenge assumptions and tackle ambiguity head-on
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus
