About our Company
Government’s biggest challenges — homelessness, election administration, emergency response — don’t get solved inside a single agency. Work happens across dozens of organizations that often struggle to coordinate, share information, and act in real time.
Civic Roundtable is an AI-powered government operations platform that helps public servants do exactly that. We give wide networks of agencies and partner organizations the tools to consolidate information, coordinate mission-critical work, and move faster together so the people on the frontlines of public problems have what they need to serve their communities.
Trusted by 4,000+ organizations across all 50 states, Civic Roundtable emerged from the Harvard Innovation Labs and is backed by General Catalyst.
About the Role
As Chief of Staff, you’ll work directly with the CEO as a strategic thought partner and operator across company operations, go-to-market efforts, and high-priority initiatives. You’ll help identify priorities, bring structure to ambiguity, and turn ideas into action.
This is a high-ownership, cross-functional role for someone who likes to move fast and shift seamlessly between strategy and execution at a growing startup. It’s a great fit for someone who wants exposure to all parts of a company.
We’re looking for someone who loves bringing order to ambiguity, notices broken systems and instinctively wants to fix them, and is energized by the opportunity to help shape how the company scales. We’re also looking for someone energized by the opportunity to build better tech for public servants doing critical work.
What Your First 6 Months Could Look Like
Launch and own high-priority initiatives, such as:
Build dashboards and operating rhythms that give leadership visibility across the business
Partner with growth and finance teams to strengthen RevOps processes and forecasting
Identify and roll out AI tools and automations that help the team move faster
Drive complex enterprise opportunities, from pricing analysis to partnership strategy
Redesign our recruiting and onboarding process for a growing team
Prepare materials, analysis, and recommendations for investor discussions
Key Responsibilities
Build and improve how the company runs
Create scalable processes and operating rhythms that keep the company organized and moving
Identify friction across teams and implement solutions that improve execution
Build systems that provide visibility into key business metrics and progress
Drive strategic initiatives and company priorities
Own cross-functional projects from scoping through execution
Conduct market and competitive analysis and develop recommendations that inform company decisions
Create leverage for leadership by ensuring critical priorities move forward or standing up new functions (e.g., referral/channel partnerships)
Support investor communication and financial planning efforts
Scale the business through operations and technology
Strengthen RevOps processes and internal systems that facilitate growth
Help attract exceptional talent and build scalable hiring processes
Identify and implement AI tools, automations, and internal systems that help the team move faster and work smarter
About You
We’re excited about people who:
Love bringing order to ambiguity and know the difference between process and bureaucracy
Move fluidly between strategy and execution without losing the thread on either
Notice broken systems and instinctively want to improve them
Write exceptionally well and communicate clearly under pressure
Can independently own multiple priorities and know when to escalate
Thrive in fast-moving, early-stage environments where the job description changes
Care about making government work better for the people it serves
We’re hoping you have:
3-5 years of experience in ops, chief of staff, consulting, finance, or a high-velocity startup
An excitement to build from scratch in addition to tweaking process that already exists
Strong technical aptitude and comfort picking up new tools quickly, including AI
Excellent judgment on prioritization and when to pull in others
