Staff Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Remote (aligned with Eastern Time)
Position Summary
The Staff Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will be Chamber’s first dedicated infrastructure engineer. This is a hands-on role for someone who is a self-starter, is self-directed and relishes the opportunity for a 0 ⇒ 1 build in a growing company. This role will design, scale, and evolve Chamber’s AWS-based cloud platform that powers real-time cardiology insights and value-based care operations. This role sits on the engineering team and reports directly to the Head of Engineering, with broad ownership across infrastructure architecture, automation, security, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Design and scale Chamber’s AWS Infrastructure. Lead the architecture, implementation, and optimization of ECS, EC2, Lambda, RDS, Redshift, S3 and other AWS services to support a rapidly growing clinical and analytics platform.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Pulumi. Establish scalable IaC patterns, enforce consistency across environments, and drive automation throughout the infrastructure lifecycle.
Implement monitoring, logging, and observability systems. Build end-to-end visibility into application, data, and infrastructure health using tools such as CloudWatch, DataDog, etc., ensuring reliability at scale. Own cost visibility and optimization, partnering with product and data teams as usage evolves.
Automate deployments and environment provisioning. Improve developer velocity and operational safety by enhancing GitHub Actions workflows, automating environment builds, and strengthening deployment pipelines.
Ensure strong security posture and compliance. In collaboration with the Security team apply IAM best practices, secrets management, encryption standards, and auditability to maintain HIPAA and SOC2 compliance while enabling developer productivity.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Deep AWS architectural expertise. Able to design secure, scalable, cost-efficient systems across compute, storage, networking, and data services, especially in regulated healthcare environments.
Advanced Infrastructure as Code proficiency. Comfortable building complex, production-grade infrastructure systems in Pulumi, with strong TypeScript fundamentals.
Strong automation mindset. Skilled in developing tooling, scripts, and workflows (primarily Python and TypeScript) to reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and accelerate delivery.
Cross-functional collaboration. Able to partner with product engineering, data engineering, and application teams to align infrastructure with product goals and performance needs. Can translate clinical and operational constraints and partnership requirements into infrastructure and data platform decisions.
Security- and reliability-first decision making. Approaches architecture, tooling, and operations with a mindset centered on safety, compliance, observability, and operational excellence.
Job Requirements
8–12 years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles.
Proven experience designing and operating production workloads on AWS (ECS, EC2, Lambda, RDS, Redshift, S3, Secrets Manager).
Strong hands-on experience with Pulumi (preferred) or similar IaC platforms.
Experience with Python and/or TypeScript.
Experience building CI/CD pipelines, including with using GitHub Actions.
Experience supporting HIPAA- and SOC2-compliant environments.
Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and data teams.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth, and ambiguous startup environment.
Must be based in the U.S. and able to align with Eastern Time working hours.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with a broad engineering ecosystem including C# and Next.js.
