We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer as our first dedicated data expert to establish a scalable data architecture and manage the entire data lifecycle within our platform.
Position Overview:
As Chamber’s Senior Data Engineer, you will build our data architecture from the ground up, develop ETL pipelines, and ensure reliable data processing for internal analytics, platform insights, and reporting. Collaborating with a lean software engineering team and cross-functional colleagues in Product, Design, and Analytics, you’ll define and manage data requirements, support healthcare ontologies, coding systems, and data interoperability. This role is a unique opportunity to lead the data engineering efforts that will drive Chamber’s mission of improving cardiovascular health through value-based care.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Architecture: Design and implement a scalable data architecture to support the platform's data needs and internal analytics.
ETL Pipelines: Build, monitor, and optimize ETL pipelines to ensure timely and accurate data processing.
Data Integration & Interoperability: Oversee interoperability for integrating healthcare data systems, including ontologies and coding standards.
Analytics & Reporting: Develop data workflows to support internal analytics and external reporting features.
Data Quality & Governance: Ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with healthcare standards, including HIPAA and SOC2.
Collaboration: Partner with R&D, customers, and strategic partners to define data requirements, design analytics capabilities, and support reporting.
Cloud Management: Implement and manage cloud-based data solutions to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
BI Tooling & Reporting: Integrate BI tools, providing stakeholders with reliable and accessible data insights.
Qualifications:
Required:
Proven experience developing scalable data architectures within a startup environment.
Proficiency in Git for version control and collaboration.
Expertise in cloud services (preferably AWS) for data storage, processing, and security (S3, Redshift, RDS, Athena).
Strong skills in building and managing ETL pipelines with modern tools (e.g., dlt, dbt) and orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Temporal, Spark, Kafka).
Ability to work in agile, fast-paced environments with autonomy and accountability.
Strongly Preferred:
Remote work experience with strong collaboration skills.
Experience designing data architectures supporting cataloging, lineage, and governance.
Knowledge of containerized application deployment.
Expertise with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) to enable real-time or scheduled BI reporting.
Familiarity with healthcare terminology and standards (e.g., RxNorm, ICD10, SNOMED, LOINC, CPT).
Nice to Have:
Experience with AI, Large Language Models (LLM), or NLP in healthcare data applications.
Infrastructure-as-code expertise with tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
