About Chalk

Chalk is building the data platform that powers the future of machine learning applications. We tear down complexity, latency, and scale barriers that have traditionally constrained ML capabilities. Our platform combines Rust-speed performance with elegant tools that developers love to use. Leading companies depend on Chalk for everything from stopping fraudulent credit card swipes, verifying identities, and maximizing clean energy capture. We've recently raised a $50 million Series A, led by Felicis.

About the Role

This role is responsible for how Chalk shows up in the world—through press, analysts, executive voice, and the narratives that shape our perception. You’ll work closely with leadership to develop crisp messaging, craft company-level stories, and identify high-impact moments that deserve amplification.

You’ll also partner tightly with brand, content, and social to ensure Chalk’s external communications are aligned, consistent, and high taste across every surface. This includes identifying and submitting to speaking opportunities, managing CFPs, and supporting execs in preparing for events.

This role requires sharp editorial instincts, technical fluency, and a high bar for what gets published.

We work in-person Monday through Friday from our offices in NY, SF or LA. We don’t currently offer remote or hybrid positions.

What you will do

  • Shape and maintain Chalk’s external narrative across product, customers, team, and market
  • Work directly with executives on messaging, voice, ghostwriting, and public communications
  • Manage relationships with press and analysts, including outreach, strategy, and logistics
  • Identify and manage speaking opportunities—including CFPs, industry events, and owned platforms
  • Build strategies around launches, announcements, fundraising, and hiring moments
  • Collaborate with brand, content, and social to align messaging and maintain voice across surfaces

Who you are

  • 5–7 years of experience in communications, PR, or analyst relations—preferably in developer tooling or data infrastructure
  • A strong writer with a clean editorial style and the ability to explain technical concepts with clarity
  • Experienced working directly with senior leadership on external visibility and storytelling
  • Familiar with analyst ecosystems (Gartner, Forrester, RedMonk, etc.) and how to operate within them
  • Comfortable navigating and managing CFPs, speaker submissions, and event prep
  • Understands what gets coverage—and what gets ignored
  • Brings strong taste, tight execution, and a bias for substance over spin

Bonus points

  • Experience with ML/data infrastructure or developer products.
  • A strong rolodex across alt-media and developer communities.
  • Experience organizing or sponsoring developer events, meetups, or conference presences.
