As the Head of Data, you will be both a critical people manager and thought leader responsible for building and executing Certify’s data strategy. You will ultimately ensure that our credentialing and provider data management solutions deliver high-quality, reliable, and actionable provider data. This role requires a strategic technical leader who can balance data engineering, governance, analytics, and AI-driven automation to enhance our products and drive customer value. It reports directly into the CEO.
You will work cross-functionally with Product Management, Engineering, Customer Success, and Commercial teams to ensure our data infrastructure scales with our growth while meeting industry compliance and security standards.
You will build out a critical function and be expected to attract and mentor top talent.
What You’ll Do
- Data Strategy & Leadership: we aggregate data from hundreds of sources today. There are many more we need to integrate into our platform. You will lead our data strategy and research team to build a roadmap and prioritization framework of new sources to acquire data from. You will constantly think about new data elements, new sources, and the best way to acquire that data at scale. This will involve development of new data pipelines to ingest data in real time through multiple formats (SFTP, APIs, flat files, scrapers etc) and building real-time processing capabilities to support product and analytics needs, all compliant with industry standards like NCQA and Hitrust. You will also build frameworks to monitor pipeline performance and optimize the efficiency of our data acquisition processes.
- Data Infrastructure Governance: your role is to provide the architectural blueprint and governance model. Once data is acquired, you will define and establish the strategic framework for mapping data to our internal data model. You will:
- Create standardized guidelines for data pipeline development
- Define compliance requirements aligned with industry standards
- Develop frameworks for monitoring pipeline performance and efficiency
- Establish data quality and integration standards
- Partner with Product and Engineering to ensure these frameworks are implemented effectively
- Data Quality: you will be responsible for building a QA framework across the data lifecycle to ensure data integrity so that no customers report bugs post implementation. You will be responsible for building systems and processes to perform data cleansing, normalization, standardization and build circuit breakers if the data does not meet the correct data structure, format or accuracy standards.
- AI and Automation: through your work you will be responsible for the use of AI/ML to drive efficiency and accuracy. You will use the latest AI models to build scalable scrapers to acquire new data elements. You will apply AI in entity resolution and deduplication to create a single source of truth for provider data which will serve as a basis for predictive analytics, building robust reporting and new applications.
- Reporting and Analytics: you will partner with Product Management and Customer Success to develop data-driven features that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Leadership & Team Building: you will build and lead a high-performing data engineering, analytics, and data science team to support Certify’s growth, attracting talent from your existing network and serving as a talent magnet.
What You’ll Need
- 10+ years in data leadership roles, preferably in healthcare SaaS and enterprise data products
- Experience in data models, architecture, governance, and AI/ML models
- Experience in building scalable data pipelines, data transformation, scrapers, and ingestion engines
