We are looking for a strong generalist with broad legal expertise to support multiple aspects of the company including commercial, operations, contracts, employment, licensing and collaborations. You will be responsible for developing effective legal strategies that contribute to the long-term success and competitive advantage of our company. This is a new role that will help contribute to the long-term success and competitive advantage of our company.

Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Partner with leadership, team members and other stakeholders across the company to address legal matters related to the business, employment, etc.
  • Draft, maintain and review a spectrum of corporate, commercial, and supplier agreements including but not limited to: CDAs/NDAs; MTAs; service agreements (both providing & receiving services); consulting agreements; supply agreements; instrument/method evaluation agreements; terms & conditions of sale; employee agreements; patent licensing; etc.
  • Draft and maintain legal document templates and policies.
  • Anticipate and analyze legal issues or risks and propose creative and effective solutions to address those risks.
  • Negotiate and/or counsel management or staff in their negotiations with agreements with outside parties.
  • Manage outside counsel relationships and external partners as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel at times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate/United States law degree and current bar admission in California.
  • 10+ years of combined experience in law firms and in-house legal departments, preferably within the biotechnology, life sciences tools, or medical devices industries.
  • In-depth expertise in commercial law.
  • Demonstrated success in efficiently resolving complex business issues by collaborating effectively across business units and internal functions.
  • Practical yet creative problem-solving approach, prioritizing business needs while safeguarding the company's interests with sound and practical business judgment.
  • Proactive, dynamic, and results-driven self-starter with strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with working globally, supporting multiple time zones and cultures.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across all departments in the organization, demonstrating a highly responsive and service-oriented attitude.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $196,000 - $314,000/year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
