Job Summary:

We are looking for a SOX Compliance Manager who has experience of implementing and running a Group-wide SOX compliance programme. We listed on the NYSE in H2 2021 and have been designing our SOX compliance programme since that date. We now need someone with the drive and passion to fully implement, test and manage the programme. This will include providing support and subject matter expertise to the Finance, Risk and IT functions. You will need excellent communication skills and an ability to understand the detail but elevate the messaging in a clear and concise way to senior stakeholders, including the CFO and Audit Committee.

About this role and the impact you will have:

  • Work as part of our Finance team to lead the development, implementation and continual improvement of Cazoo’s SOX compliance programme.
  • Be responsible for carrying out and delivering the ongoing management of the Group’s SOX compliance programme and the annual cycle.
  • Continuously risk assess the Business to ensure all processes and entities are scoped into the SOX programme as appropriate.
  • Manage the design, implementation and documentation of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the Risk Control Matrices (RACM), process flowcharts and other procedural documentation.
  • Provide support and guidance to Control Owners and Operators.
  • Work with IT to ensure the Group’s IT control framework meets SOX compliance requirements.
  • Manage the internal and external SOX audits, assisting to coordinate walkthroughs, testing and progress in line with agreed timelines.
  • Evaluate any control deficiencies identified by external or internal audit and work with control owners to implement any required remediations.
  • Drive consistency, quality and continuous improvement of business processes and controls.
  • Work with the Systems Manager to build SOX compliance considerations and best practices into finance projects and systems automation.
  • Manage a small team responsible for SOX compliance.
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required.

Skills and experience required:

  • Qualified accountant/ auditor (ACCA, ACA, and/or CIA) with industry experience.
  • Detailed understanding of a SOX control framework through prior work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of COSO, IIA and PCAOB Auditing Standards risk and controls standards and business process best practices.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage workload and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work with individuals across all levels of the business.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to take ownership of the implementation and ongoing management of the Group’s SOX compliance programme.
  • Previous line management experience.
  • Previous experience of AuditBoard is desirable.
