As the pioneer of Consulting 2.0, Catalant gives the world’s leading companies on-demand access to a community of highly vetted independent consultants and former operators. From individual consultants to full project teams, we deliver the right expertise to solve our clients’ most important challenges. Our clients include more than 30% of the Fortune 500, top private equity firms, and global consultancies, all seeking a more flexible, cost-effective way to get high-impact work done.
We’ve reimagined consulting for today’s world: it’s digitally enabled, fit-for-purpose, and designed to deliver outcomes, not just hours. Our proprietary platform powers our ability to connect companies with Catalant Experts and Teams who’ve solved similar problems before. Backed by world-class venture investors, we’re building the team that will take Catalant and the future of consulting to the next level.
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to lead the data engineering function at Catalant. You’ll design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure that powers Catalant’s product, AI/ML innovation, analytics, and reporting. This is a highly cross-functional role: you’ll work closely with our core engineering team, AI/ML engineers driving Catalant’s AI strategy, our Director of Revenue Operations & Analytics, and business stakeholders across the company who rely on clean, reliable data for insights and decision-making. Be part of Catalant’s journey to expand our data capabilities and transform how we leverage data for impact.
Our team values diversity in experience and backgrounds—we do our best work when we create space for different voices and perspectives. Whatever unique experiences or skill sets you bring, we look forward to learning from each other.
What you'll do
- Data Architecture & Infrastructure: Design, build, and optimize the company’s data architecture, pipelines, and warehouse to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with product engineers, AI/ML engineers, analytics, and RevOps to integrate data solutions that support both product features and business intelligence.
- ETL/ELT Development: Develop and maintain pipelines that move and transform data from multiple internal and external sources.
- Facilitate Analytics & AI: Ensure high-quality, well-structured data is available for AI/ML applications, product analytics, and companywide reporting.
- Governance & Best Practices: Establish best practices for data quality, monitoring, documentation, and security.
- Enablement & Documentation: Document data standards and reusable modeling patterns to empower engineers, other teams, and future teammates.
- Technical Ownership: Take projects from planning through execution, with ownership over architecture and implementation decisions.
What you'll bring
- At least 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with proven experience designing and scaling modern data architectures and pipelines.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Expertise with data warehouse technologies (e.g., BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, or similar).
- Fluency in SQL
- Experience with ETL/ELT pipeline tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, Dagster).
- Experience working with APIs and integrating diverse data sources.
- Strong understanding of data modeling and performance optimization.
- Experience with streaming solutions such as Spark Streaming, Kafka, or Flink is desirable but not required.
- Professional experience with at least one cloud platform such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure (Google Cloud preferred).
- Ability to partner effectively across engineering, AI/ML, analytics, and company stakeholders.
- Knowledge of RAG and other design patterns for AI applications
- Ability to define, explain, and sell long-term vision for technical architecture, technical approaches / procedures, etc.
- Comfortable taking ownership and setting the direction for data engineering at a growing company.
- Ability to work with urgency, a strong sense of curiosity, and demonstrated ability to learn new technologies.
