Senior Logistics Specialist
We are seeking a Senior Logistics Specialist to provide hands-on leadership and execution of logistics, materials and hazardous materials operations across multiple field locations. This position will play a critical role in establishing and supporting logistics operations in New Mexico, while coordinating materials and transportation activities with existing operations, including Torrance, CA and Midland, TX.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in the field, coordinating directly with site personnel, carriers, vendors, and operations teams, and stepping in to solve logistics challenges as they arise. This is a hands-on role requiring strong knowledge of explosives, hazardous materials transportation and storage, DOT, OSHA, and ATF requirements, as well as the ability to build practical processes and training programs from the ground up.
Responsibilities
Logistics & Materials Coordination
- Provide hands-on oversight of shipment, transportation, delivery, receipt, handling, and storage of hazardous materials and explosives.
- Coordinate the movement of materials between operational sites, including Midland, TX and New Mexico.
- Coordinate and oversee material deliveries at New Mexico site, ensuring materials arrive safely, on schedule, and in accordance with the site requirements.
- Be physically present at field locations as needed to support logistics activities and troubleshoot operational challenges.
- Assist with loading, unloading, staging, storage, and movement activities as appropriate and within applicable safety requirements.
Hazardous Materials & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure the transportation and storage of hazardous materials and explosives are conducted in compliance with applicable DOT, OSHA, ATF, and company requirements.
- Oversee hazardous materials shipments and verify appropriate documentation, packaging, labeling, shipping and transportation requirements.
- Support compliance inspections, audits, and site reviews related to hazardous materials, transportation and storage.
- Maintain a strong focus on safe material handling and transportation practices.
New Mexico Logistics Operations
- Assist in standing up logistics operations for New Mexico, including developing practical processes, procedures, and workflows.
- Work directly at the site to help establish logistics infrastructure, material flow, storage practices, inventory controls, and transportation processes.
- Assist in establishing logistics processes that can grow with the operation.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, materials operations, transportation, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with explosives and hazardous materials.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable DOT, OSHA, and ATF requirements.
- Experience developing and implementing logistics processes and procedures.
Preferred Skills and Experiences
- Experience in explosives, oil & gas, energy, mining, defense, manufacturing, or another highly regulated field.
- Experience conducting or supporting DOT, OSHA, or ATF inspections and audits.
- Secret clearance preferred.
