About Cartesia

Our mission is to build the next generation of AI: ubiquitous, interactive intelligence that runs wherever you are. Today, not even the best models can continuously process and reason over a year-long stream of audio, video and text—1B text tokens, 10B audio tokens and 1T video tokens—let alone do this on-device.

We're pioneering the model architectures that will make this possible. Our founding team met as PhDs at the Stanford AI Lab, where we invented State Space Models or SSMs, a new primitive for training efficient, large-scale foundation models. Our team combines deep expertise in model innovation and systems engineering paired with a design-minded product engineering team to build and ship cutting edge models and experiences.

We're funded by leading investors at Index Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners, along with Factory, Conviction, A Star, General Catalyst, SV Angel, Databricks and others. We're fortunate to have the support of many amazing advisors, and 90+ angels across many industries, including the world's foremost experts in AI.

About the Role

Cartesia is seeking an entrepreneurial Product Operations Manager to build and scale the systems that power our next-generation voice AI models. You’ll lead initiatives across evaluation, data operations, and workforce systems - ensuring our voice models are trained, tested, and improved with the highest-quality inputs. You’ll also own the day-to-day operations of our Voice ecosystem, where you will source, evaluate, and deliver voices that our customers love.

This is a hands-on, strategic role for someone who loves designing scalable systems, partnering with engineering and product teams, and turning complex, ambiguous problems into simple, operationally excellent solutions.

Your Impact

Voice Product Operations

  • Own the end-to-end operations of Cartesia’s Voice Library - from sourcing and evaluating new voices to maintaining a scalable, high-quality ecosystem of production-ready assets

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and insights to track interaction with voice products, identifying usage patterns, emerging trends, and potential quality issues

  • Design and execute issue triage systems that ensure rapid identification, prioritization, and resolution of voice-related problems across the stack

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to evolve voice metadata, tagging, and representation systems, improving discoverability and configurability across use cases

  • Ensure comprehensive voice coverage and consistent quality across prioritized languages, accents, and customer segments

Model Evaluation & Product Strategy

  • Own the strategy, design, and execution of evaluation systems that demonstrate real-world model performance for customer-specific use cases

  • Rapidly prototype evaluation pipelines for TTS, ASR, and S2S models - identifying opportunities for improvement and quantifying gains

  • Partner with GTM and customers to translate nuanced evaluation needs into clear technical requirements and actionable insights

  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Research, Product, and Engineering to continuously evolve our evaluation methodology

Data Operations & Vendor Management

  • Source, vet, and manage data vendors to secure world-class voice datasets that meet technical, linguistic, and budgetary requirements

  • Negotiate contracts, set quality standards, and develop dashboards to track data delivery, quality, and vendor performance

  • Build feedback loops between data pipelines, model training, and evaluation to ensure continuous improvement

Contractor Network & Workforce Systems

  • Design and scale systems for hiring, onboarding, and managing contractors across data collection, annotation, and evaluation workflows

  • Build incentive systems and onboarding experiences that attract top talent while maintaining high throughput and quality

  • Create rigorous screening and QA workflows to ensure consistency and reliability across global contributors

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of professional experience: Ideally 2+ years at a top-tier consulting, investment banking, or private equity firm and 2+ years in product/operations roles at a technical company

  • Systems thinking - able to spot leverage points in complex processes, evaluate second and third order effects, and resolve bottlenecks effectively

  • Product intuition - able to walk into a room with engineers and stakeholders and walk out with the right technical and business decisions

  • Analytical rigor - proven experience designing metrics and frameworks that measure both technical performance and customer impact

  • Strong negotiation & relationship building - proven ability to build vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and manage external partners effectively

  • Customer obsession - excited about building evaluation systems that demonstrate real value to customers and solve their specific problems

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills - excel at taking complex, undefined problems 0 to 1, structuring solutions, and driving decisions with data

  • Excitement for Voice AI - genuinely curious about the future of voice technology and energized by what we're building

  • SQL proficiency required

Nice to Have

  • Technical foundation - CS, Engineering, or similar background

  • Experience working with AI/ML models, evaluation frameworks, or data annotation projects

  • Background in operations at technical startups, particularly those involving data or AI

  • Experience with audio/speech data or voice technology

  • Track record scaling contractor networks or vendor relationships

  • Understanding of machine learning workflows and training data requirements
