About the Role//Specialty

You’ll get hands-on experience writing reusable code and technical documentation to build the platform supporting intuitive user experiences on HarmonyOS. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who has deep understanding and excellent hands on experience of both HarmonyOS and iOS and rally mobile first thinking across Canva.

What you’ll do (responsibilities)

  • Drive the end to end delivery of HarmonyOS Canva app in a cross-functional team
  • Build effective and efficient iOS components to enhance mobile platform support
  • Leverage technical solutions on both mobile and frontend, and establish mature connection with frontend teams to maximise the adoption of new mobile features
  • Engage in technical and product design discussions with the team, setup and execute strategic plans to resolve real-world problems
  • Contribute to defining, improving, and codifying best practices and methodologies for mobile engineering at Canva
  • Rally knowledge sharing across mobile teams, supporting less experienced engineers to growth

What we're looking for

We are looking for an amazing problem solver with strong foundational experience in HarmonyOS and iOS development, ideally you have also been involved with mobile architecture development such as building components, adopting modern mobile patterns and familiar with the latest developments principles in HarmonyOS and iOS.

We are looking for an amazing problem solver with strong foundational experience in HarmonyOS and iOS development, ideally you have also been involved with mobile architecture development such as building components, adopting modern mobile patterns and familiar with the latest developments principles in HarmonyOS and iOS.


Here are some skills we would like to highlight:

  • You have strong foundations in computer science and software engineering practices
  • You have experience with HarmonyOS development, including familiarity with ArkTS, the ArkUI framework, and DevEco Studio
  • You understand distributed application design and are comfortable building apps that run across multiple device types in the HarmonyOS ecosystem
  • You stay up to date with the latest developments in the HarmonyOS NEXT stack and are able to contribute to native application development with performance and scalability in mind
  • You know how to leverage iOS native technologies and modern architectures to solve the most challenging problems
  • You have proven expertise in modern iOS development including deep understanding of Kotlin language, concurrency and reactive programming
  • You have good knowledge of frontend development using React and TypeScript, previous exposure to hybrid technologies a plus but not essential
  • You can navigate through ambiguities and come up with best technical solutions independently
  • You exemplify both attention to detail and strategic thinking by using your experience and best practices to develop code that is reusable and testable
