Job Description

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

This role will see you:

  • Leading a newly formed team to deliver public REST APIs (Connect API) for Canva’s third-party developer ecosystem

  • Driving high-impact backend engineering across integration capabilities used by strategic enterprise partners

  • Partnering with product, design, and developer platform teams to shape and deliver meaningful platform outcomes

  • Building and refining scalable API foundations that serve internal and external developers

  • Creating a thriving team culture that supports experimentation, safety, and continuous feedback

  • Enabling agentic workflows and cross-team integrations in Canva’s evolving ecosystem

You're probably a match if

  • You are a technical and people leader with experience coaching high-performing engineering teams

  • You have a strong background in the backend space, ideally in Java, and working knowledge of AWS

  • You thrive in ambiguous environments with competing priorities and fast-moving roadmaps

  • Yo9u have a product mindset—understanding how to align engineering with user and business outcomes

  • You know how to balance long-term tech vision with rapid delivery

  • Your communication is key and you communicate clearly and influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders

The Integration Capabilities team is part of Canva’s Ecosystem supergroup—focused on building a thriving third-party developer platform. We power the foundations behind Canva’s public API and integration stack, enabling seamless connections with external services and tools. Our mission is to build a delightful, scalable experience that empowers developers inside and outside Canva to build what’s next.
